i have the jig already, in the new bootloader, the jig seems to be working for removing the yellow triangle but not the binary counter.

other than jig, method reflashing the stock kernel also ca remove the yellow triangle.

i've extracted the zImage kernel from 2.3.6 and tar the file so the file can be flashed per Odin, and i've asked one of the seniors at XDA and he said my method should be working, but of course i still dont test it myself.

i already root my I9100g. then flash MyGKernel V1.1.1_CWM5.tar with odin from http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1327509 and success have added CWM-based Recovery v5.0.2.6. why still have yellow triangle at boot. i try flash again with Original Kernel Image. i follow this link http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2068824. but CWM-based Recovery v5.0.2.6 was appear. please tell me, what i must do ??? what kind kernel version to used for remove yellow triangle???
*
so u are flashing the KI1 firmware right? as far as i can tell, after u reflash the stock kernel back, using CWM or k-tool, u need to reflash back the rooted kernel(mygkernel here) from inside the phone itself, not from odin

Guys,  you are going to be using your samsung for some time, at least a few months . Why not just buy a USB jig. Its not expensive. U can even buy from ebay. I bought mine and cost less than RM10. Wait one week it will arrive.
Just use the jig if the Yellow Triangle is bothering you . I understand how it feels. I used jig and no more triangle, binary counter reset and phone says firmware is samsung official. A few bucks is small compared to other accesories that we buy

Or worst case go "borrow" someone's jig.

Or live with the yellow triangle, whats the problem actually? you see it only when u start up the phone.

Let's all be happy that now we have multiple ways to root, and also one custom ROM.

Cheers ok? thumbup.gif
*
just need some info, what kernel/bootloader are u using right now in which firmware version? because i read that in new bootloader, usb jig cant be used anymore for resetting binary count. ohmy.gif

kldoc, thanks for the informations, really gave me a wider view of perspective.. regarding the baseband/firmware, i am currently with the latest one GDZKJ2 (2.3.6) and still cant use the doomlord method

i'm planning to reading around first before making the jump to use any rooted kernel out there, even though some of us are using it without any problem.

i hope, if u found any good solution/method for i9100G, please do info us here in this forum smile.gif

the update, i've tried both using KIES and also Odin, because the kernel is signed, so no binary counter will occur even if we are using Odin for flashing stock firmware.

many people are saying that the latest firmware is better especially in stability and battery.

yeah, sure, i am currently learning too, been asking around my friend (some are recognized dev).

well, most of the released rooted kernels are either from Malaysian or Chinese. Maybe because only in certain countries right now the i9100G being replaced officially.

i will wait until either chainfire(XDA) releases cf-root for i9100G or i will try to port it myself, but of course it will took some time and maybe not even usable. but still i like learning android and tech stuff.

man, got some problem, is the GPS inside sgs2 really suck compared to HTC or what? i have an old HTC Magic and it can lock to GPS under 30 sec even under cloudy weather, but sgs2 cant lock at all even after few minutes, only yesterday once got locked, but only for a short moment and the signal lost again.

anyone care to humor me?

added : ignore this, got it fixed already using "gps status" app

Finally, have my "G" unit rooted, Yes! However, have some experience to share here:

After fist attempt, as I mention in #665, a lot of "failed", "unable" etc. I tried waveweaver suggestion, install Superuser, success! Strange. Then I install busybox, NO, cannot, bcos it stated no root. More Strange!

Then I re-do the rooting again using version 2, wow, everything goes well without all those "failed, 'unable" messgae, it even rebooting my unit after I hit "any key to continue" which did not happen during the first attempt. Then all busybox, re-boot apk all worked! Proven it is finally rooted.
*
dannysee, thanks for the idea of installing superuser app first from android market. the doomlord method is working for me right now, yeay..

let me share my experience :

- trying around for a lot and a lot of times, follow the guide directly from first page and also some suggestion from others.

- install superuser app from android market, run one time and try to check for binary update, but cancelled right away
- just rebooted laptop, kill adb/samsung app related first.
- run doomlord v3 edited as per page 1.
- and it happened smile.gif

hey creezalird..hv u try KJ6 kernel? did it really remove the capped n boost to 1.2ghz?
*
nope, i am on KJ2 right now and i think using any cpu app like SetCPU or no-frills cpu, the max value and min value can be adjusted accordingly. even can try the 1.2ghz (ondemand). but if u are using hotplug profile, the max value will be adjusted automatically according wether u are plugging to charger or not, with charger 1.2ghz and without charger 1.0ghz only.

edit : maybe not, somehow the kernel adjusted itself to 1.0 ghz T_T

I tried with superuser app, but result is failed on KI1, and still no kies update on the kernel ... So i'll just wait i guess ...
Oh i did not mentionned, but i modified the script slightly to make it run from a usb key, i'll try from drive C ...
*
hurm, sorry it didnt worked for u, i think i will try reflash back and fully clean restore and try re-root again.
right now i am dumping the system and hoping chainfire will make mobile odin compatible for our device.

after install superuser, try run the app and try update the binary from within the app, it will say something like currenty binary is "legacy". but dont do the update. close the app and ran the script.

i am satisfied and i am rooted wink.gif
currently learning to deploy my own custom rom.

btw, 1.2ghz when charging and 1ghz when not charging, that is why samsung names the kernel profile as "hotplug".

so far i am satisfied with this profile, even i underclock it to 600mhz or 800mhz, much better for my battery smile.gif)

try old method?? will lost data ? i hv throughout but dun understand ...LOL~!  icon_question.gif

hermanchb, it is actually not that hard.

assuming u are on the latest KJ2 firmware, just flash the rooted kernel (ie MyGKernel) using Odin (without PIT file).
even if u are on the older firmware, u still can follow the guide from frontpage easily.

but of coz your binary counter will be increased. smile.gif

another rooted kernel : superatmos

im still a n00b in this matter although i have successfully rooted my phone on 2.3.5
so if i want to upgrade to 2.3.6, i have to upgrade 2.3.6 (ie KJ2) then flash MyGKernel?

rclxub.gif

with this 2.3.6, then i can flash the juffo rom?

rclxub.gif
*
if u are already rooted, u can flash directly juffo rom assuming u have the CWM.
but if u dont have CWM yet, flash mygkernel(or superatmos) using ktool, after this u will have CWM

then flash juffo rom 2.0 using CWM and again 2.1 using CWM (as juffo stated u must flash 2.0 first and then 2.1 or newer)

no need to upgrade to 2.3.6 because juffo rom is already 2.3.6 with rooted 2.3.5 kernel

You bought USB JIG here ? http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=1785074&hl=9100G
*
nope, i bought from lowyat.net too but for only rm15 total, cant remember which thread, just googled around

1) just update to 2.3.6/KJ2 if u still on the old firmware. update can be done with Kies or with Odin. No binary counter will be increased

2) using odin, flash either mygkernel or superatmos, no need for pit file, only kernel, flash as PDA

3) reboot and check superuser functionality.

4) turn off and get into CWM mode. vol up+ home+ on button

5) thats all, using CWM u can flash custom rom like juffo, so far only one custom rom for i9100G

step is just plug the usb jig during the phone turned off. and after it get into download mode, turn off and reboot.
but i am not sure if it will work for the new bootloader, but it will reset the yellow triangle for sure, only not the binary counter
