pictures and medias are usually in sdcard partition (internal or external)

but contacts, apps and sms are inside system/data partition, and these will be cleaned up.

yes, actually it is recommended evrytime especially if u are flashing different roms, but if u are for example on superrom 2.0 then superrom 3.0 got released, so no need to wipe as it is from same dev.

perfomance wise, superatmos 3.0 and stock LA kernel are the same

superatmos 3.0 is just enhanced with CWM and some small things, but no extra governors like smartass or whatever.

i dont set anything for mine, just stay default at hotplug.

how fast would u say fast?

if using ktool/mobileodinpro, no yellow triangle will occur, but u need to extract it to zImage first. If u want to have many governors, u can try lucifr kernel, but some people are reporting heat problem, but some others not.

u have the same idea like me. i was on ios too before, but still right now, just hardly using the ipod touch.

Hmm...my SGS2 being hanging quite frequently recently...my friend SGS even worst...always hang when disable accuweather gadget...my sister also complained her SGS Plus hangs....and my colleague latest SGS2 also face hanging problems....

After some digging, i can find lots of such complains....i think Samsung phones really not stable....my old HTC Desire never have such problems....I guess i will be jumping ship after April when the slew of new HTC phones comes and see if it met my criteria...or worst....sucumb to Apple and become an iFag.....

sometimes happen and sometimes don't...should i go to samsung to check this prob?

just tested, ten times snapping and the same times ten times checking the picture..still no hang, even close and reopen camera also.

i think maybe the hang is affected by some of samsung applications, which i have already removed almost all of them

I try few times already in latest version, it keep hanging my phone after few ring before the person pickup my call.

I had no issue answering the Viber, I just can't calling it. Seems no issue in previous version, it start hanging in latest release.

it is a zip file? or zip file with a tar inside? try check the zip file now.
if tar, it should be flash using odin

but if u done everything correctly, try flash again, and clear cache and dalvik this time before rebooting

i never try myself to restore the efs myself, but it depends maybe on what app u used for making the backup.
If u use ktool for example, try restore the efs backup using ktool. hopefully u will get back the imei at least.

but why actually u want to change modem? T_T. I never think it will affect much on perfomance or usage

did u try restoring efs backup? and reflash modem maybe? or just reflash whole stock back as stock has modem.bin

easiest just flash any rooted kernel (example superatmos kernel) using Odin. but will introduce yellow triangle and binary counter increased, fix only with usb jig and old bootloader.

it is not a must the same stock kernel, as long as it is stock, it is sufficient

yes with PDA, no PIT, and the file must be in tar format.

if u read through, u will know what to do as i guide line per line in my pdf guide. even all advantages and disadvantages too.

tried flashing stock with odin? in theory it should work, but IMEI must be restored using ktool or whatever efs backup app u used before.

actually modem or bootloader can caused major havoc, so better to avoid it for the moment, wonder why i am not having any problem with default modem that comes with the stock rom lucky me then

Sorry to read this and  to ask, which provider are u on? This is first time I am hearing drop calls when switch to H.

About the using *#301279#,  I did the same thing on my phone on Maxis, and no H come on back even though i was using it for internet speed test  ( my build.prop has a ro.ril.hsxpa=1 when i tried this)

Maybe u can try to add a ro.ril.hsxpa=0 in ur build.prop file to keep it to 3G only.

I've tried *#301279# many times but somehow do not see it take effect at view info. Yes i press the options/bars from the multiple options. Exit out the menu..and re enter. Even a reboot after.

Only way i check/guess its working is.. if i select all off.. then go out setting check UMTS is on or not. Go back in menu and all ON, then go out setting and check to see if H is back on. All these while the info still shows All on.

Anyone hitting this problem?

Tested on a Galaxy Note as well, samething. After keying in HSPA codes, do the changes, check view info. It does not change

From my testing with FD for Maxis. wrecks havoc if off. You will get dead data connection *not entirely dead, just IDLE mode but somehow takes ages to get signal*  even if the phone shows it still connected. You will need to go flight mode and off, before the connection refreshes. Enable FD but go REL99 in HSPA trick. Do some speedtest.

So far in my testing for maxis, i get better speed with FD enabled, haven't really check on batt impact.

Also, check *#0011#,  If field "rrc state" shows state DCH/PCH and not idle then you can keep FD disabled. But if usually IF from DCH -> FACH/IDLE , you would want it enabled. As you want the connection to drop to IDLE to save batt.

I do have problem with HSPA trick tho, can't seem to put it on REL99 via looking at info. I'm using G version with DZKJ2 band. Anyone confirm its working on this band?

Hi guys, wanna check with u all..

after root and flashed.. battery can last 2 days.. then suddenly yesterday 11pm.. fully charged at 100%, then when unplug, immediately dropped to 98%, then this morning 8am, battery dropped till 20%....

what happened? no new apps installed....

just now i charged again.. 100%, then unplug, dropped to 98% again...

Plan to just update my firmware and dont wana root yet. Any pros or diffrence if i just update my firmware to CKL3? current firmware is djkz2.

Please advice. Thanks.
