Hi Guys,

Got 2 questions. I am planning to upgrade the current 8GB Micro SD to a larger capacity.

1. What class should I buy class 4, 6, 10? or the Sandisk Mobile Ultra?

2. Anyone with 64GB card here? can it be detected?

QUOTE(lcs87 @ Jan 17 2012, 03:23 PM)
pixel wise, the density of pixel on sensation is higher than SII, infact it is almost as high as retinal display...the reason why it seems longer is because of the aspect ratio. Both of them are actually 4.3'. The aspect ratio for sensation is 16:9(QHD) while SII has 16:10(WVGA)

Added on January 17, 2012, 3:28 pm

class determine the transfer speed. If you are into Full HD movie recording, then you probably need a faster card, if you only install games, or just listen to music from your card, then class 4 is more than enough.

as for the 64GB, according to this LINK, sensation should have no problem detecting it

QUOTE(hengguowei @ Jan 17 2012, 09:04 PM)
Urm, what I mean is the area of screen for a wider screen is more than a longer screen. smile.gif
S II has a larger area than Sensation. smile.gif You can try doing some math. laugh.gif
I believe 64GB shouldn't be a problem. Android(Linux) can understand 64GB card. (though you may need to format the card to FAT32). When your games for example are installed in your microSD, having a higher class is definitely better performance. smile.gif
I was listening to music the other day and playing a game off the microsd the other day while downloading an app, the in-box class 4 microsd can't handle it. My music paused and jerk all along. shakehead.gif
Get Sanyo Eneloop. I don't want to do advertisement but lots of forummer selling and it has been used by many people(LYN forummers) smile.gif

Added on January 17, 2012, 9:06 pm
Area wise, S II is larger. smile.gif A wider screen will have a larger surface area. Try drawing out on a paper with different aspect ration and you will realize it. smile.gif
*
Hi Both,

Thanks for the info. Appreciate it smile.gif

A little bit more clarification.

So class 10 should be sufficient? or better get the Sandisk Mobile Ultra? can sensation utilise the speed?

Just tested my 8GB class 4 Micro SD using "SD Tools" here are the results I got after a few tests.

Kingston 8GB Class 4: Write 9mb/s, Read 18.7mb/s
Sandisk 8GB Class 4: Write 6.7mb/s, Read 19.5mb/s

Do share yours if you have so that we can somewhat come to a conclusion which card is the best for Sensation smile.gif

Wa bro, yours quite slow liao... maybe its the app you use to do the test... try download "SD Tool" from Android Market and run the test again.

I tested with Antutu got the following.

W: 4mb/s
R: 10mb/s

So I believe it is the app that is causing this.

Yeah, I got roughly the same speed using the original Sandisk 8GB Class 4. sad.gif

Apparently my Kingston 8GB is faster.

QUOTE(AzeL @ Jan 19 2012, 09:15 AM)
Every disk behaves differently, as long as it achieves the minimum rating it should not be cause for concerns. Class 4 =  Minimum 4 MB/s write speed. If it writes faster then you have a good card.

For those considering getting Kingston, I would advise against that brand in terms of MicroSD cards, I posted some links way back about their production quality from their plant in China, there's a few major issues regarding their chip production. For the time being Sandisk would be your best bet in terms of quality.

I'm not sure if any of you noticed, but if you look around lowyat forum for those selling MicroSD cards, you will notice that Kingston cards sells for a considerably lower price compared to other brands. Not sure if this applies to computer stores though.

Just my 2 cents.

READ ABOUT THE ISSUES WITH KINGSTON and decide for yourself.

EDIT: For the time being the site above is inaccessible as the blog creator is protesting the SOPA and PIPA, as with Wikipedia English and various other sites.
*
Hoh! this is new to me, I didn't know about that. Thanks for the info.

Nevertheless, I have always choose to buy Kingston. Reason behind it is the warranty part... not to say that Sandisk is bad... but Sandisk warranty is 5 years... but Kingston is Lifetime. thumbup.gif

Hi Bro,

Does the IDefense Pro SP covers the whole screen? how much it cost, if possible can give photo and contact?

heheheheh I have change SP more than a few times, but all useless cause cannot cover fully as the Sensation screen is not flat.

QUOTE(AzeL @ Jan 19 2012, 12:58 PM)
For other things should be okay, just particularly MicroSD and maybe USB Flashdrives. Personally I'm using Kingston RAMs and a few other storage cards, never had problems. Lifetime warranty for me is not really an issue, because if your item functions properly in the first few months of usage you're probably not going to have issues with it in the future. Besides, it may say lifetime warranty, but terms and conditions of claiming warranty might be limited, not sure about this but best to read up on the terms and conditions of claim. Besides, you're not really going to use it till you die right?, most probably after 3-4 years you'll be using something new and better.
It does cover the whole screen very well, and since it is wet application, it sticks to the edges. Unfortunately for my case I was not happy with the product itself, Its probably a good/okay knock off of Zagg Invisishield, you try and visit the website, all it shows is the contact email and nothing else, looks pretty dodgy to me, and the pictures used by forumers selling the product is taken from Zagg Invisishield site.

First problem was micro-dust and lint, unless you're applying it in a steam room with high humidity to make sure no dust or lint or particles in the air, the stuff will stick to the protector when you peel it off the plastic and before spraying the solution on it.

Secondly, it gives an orange feel effect, greatly reduces our Sensations awesome touchscreen feeling.

Thirdly, you will still see adhesive marks (lines) after it has dried and trust me, if you're a person that can't stand your screen not looking nice and shiny when the screen is off, you're gonna be very disturbed by the many small imperfections.

Fourth, there were some imperfections on my first SP, had it changed via warranty claim, the replacement had the same problem, applied it, was not happy, took it off and poke with fork (it does resist penetration pretty well) then threw it away. Went back to HTC specialist store and got the clear OEM SP (FYI in Kota Kinabalu that piece of plastic costs RM40-50). It has bubbles on the edges, but I can live with that, since it's barely noticeable because I'm using Case Mate Tough which covers the edges of the screen nicely.
*
thanks for the advise bro... really appreciate it. Been having SP issues since day 1 I use Sensation... other than that the phone rawkx! biggrin.gif

Hi Guys,

Just as an update, I just bought myself a Sun Global 1850mAH battery and currently charging it.

I will write down the review in a weeks time. But on my observation, I realise the charging time is very fast only 6 mins to get 10%.

p/s: Does any1 want a spare original battery? hahahahah

Oh Yea, I updated my sensation successfully to ICS (Android Revolution HD) smile.gif

A lot a bugs tho... can run Viber... HTC sense always got error and has to force close... but everything else is superb!

if htc sense fc, try to check if any app installed at sd card, if so move them to internal memory. this reported solving the htc sense fc issue.

no offense but you can curse me for being stubborn to stick to leedroid despite slow update, his initial release on android 4.0.3 has not giving me a single htc sense fc after running of 27 hrs.

once he tweaks n adding his mods...  flex.gif gonna be supersensationalllllll

btw, bear in mind that some of the app isnt compatible with ICS yet, it's not ICS problem.
*
Erm... Think I tried, but for viber its purely Viber not compatible with ICS. Info is based on the recent Android Market comments on Viber. smile.gif

Yeah, I was sometime a go a LeeDroid user... but decided to move to Android Revolution HD cause they are normally quite qucik in fixing and releasing patches. But nevertheless it's great to hear you are not having any issues on ICS. smile.gif

Quick question tho, do you find it that ICS is a bit hard to use? or are you fine with it?

@celicaizpower:
my 1st experience with ICS (4.0.1) is the changed of display / interface at setting. if you try aosp ics roms, you'll find it is a totally different experience. simple and straight forward. now i am back to 4.0.3 with sense 3.6, perhaps it is much easy for me to pick up the change of interface as comparing to GB

i personally thinks that htc sense is somehow spoiling ics a bit by integrating sense in it. ahh.. i cant live without mail widget.. so.. cant ditch sense for aosp yet
*
Totally agree with you bro! honestly I have 2 smartphone. 1 is a HTC Sensation and the other is the Galaxy S.

I too (like you) find that Sense is somehow screwing up ICS cause on the Galaxy S (no-sense phone) ICS is working nicely.

I hope HTC comes up with a FIX asap. I also tried 4.0.3 with Sense 3.5... even worst... its a headache to even put shortcuts. haih.... rclxub.gif

Guys.. quick question here..

I'm about to buy a used HTC Sensation XL shortly..

I need to know, how can i differentiate between the original Beats earphone and the fake one? i need to be cautious, because its a used item, i'm afraid if the seller take out the ori Beats and replace with a fake one. icon_question.gif

Hi Bro,

I know this is not what you are looking for but it's the closest I can find.

Quick question, are you buying from a forumer? if yes, a Senior forumer or with alot of stars normally wont cheat you smile.gif

but there is one problem, the bottom part of the phone (near the "menu" and "back" button is very hot when i turn on wifi or charging.. anyone got this problem??

is this defect or what?
*
Hi Bro,

It will go warm depending on how long you are using it. I suggest you download Elixir 2 Widget. it has a tempreture meter it will show you the tempreture of the phone.

In general, the longer you power the phone up... the hotter it gets.

Bro, i used to have Desire HD, but don't have this heating problem at all.. that's why i am a bit worried..

If most of the Sensation owner have this issue, i guess is not a problem, just afraid only mine have this problem..
*
I see... for Sensation it is a common thing. But just to confirm again you mean that the home buttons area or the back of the home buttons area?

For me it is at the back and not at the front, same goes for my elder bro only at the back and not the front. However, I recently played this one game called defender.. after 30-40 mins of playing the front screen goes heaty.

Basically you need to know the amount of time you use it also to correctly gauge the heat issue.

Hope this helps. smile.gif

Sensation is dual core
Most dual core phones will get hot. Nothing bad will happen, Don't worry.

At a max, your phone will be too hot and then reboot or becomes unstable. Once you let the heat goes away, it should be OK again smile.gif

maybe like what bro Deathsongx3 say, is dual core proc running too fast..  hmm.gif
*
Ah, then I suspect it is the screen heating... if you play games for 20 mins++ also you will face the same thing.

If the back heats up then it is the processor. smile.gif

If you want to play safe, you can send it back for check but I think the techie will advise you the same.

Not sure about the warranty thou...

Based on my knowledge there are a few fake Sensation on the market...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYKbOJ21ykE

What you can do is to download "Antutu" from the android market and do a speed test, if the processor speed is correct then yours should be original otherwise.....
