hey guys,

I'm using a i9100G here, and i've been facing some problems here.

I know its posted before by someone but i dont think the question was answered.

Most of the time when i try to minimize the app i'm running by hitting the home button ONCE, the voice command opens on its own. I know that pressing the home button twice would open it, but I swear that i only hit it once. From day 1 i got the phone, i disabled every single Motion option in the settings. So i dont think its the double tap problem.

Anybody having the same problem? any way or solving it?
*
The double tapping function in settings is not the same as the double press home button function. Disabling it does not disable the double press home button.

i understand that very much and i know its a built in feature which i cant remove without root. But it just happens, a single press on the home button launches the voice command not always but occasionally.

Could be a defective home key then. I feel the SGS2 home key is a bit low in quality compared to my Ace. Pressing the home key on the ace feels more solid than the SGS2.

Lol, looks like the entire thread is gonna be a G vs non G battle lol. Truth be known, Sammy is primarily a NAND manufacturer, NOT a SOC manufacturer per se.

Thus it's understandable why they couldn't ramp up production of the Exynos to meet demand thus they re-manufactured some SGS2 with the OMAPs.

Just be thankful they could cope AMOLED-wise. Remember how some of the original Nexus had to be retooled with an SLCD? That's also simply due to limited supplies of the part (from Samsung).

So, WHY Samsung did it has been answered. Now, which one is better? Google, but in actuality, differences will be sorta slim. G = SLIGHTLY less heat, less performance, less ROMs (for now), more battery life - roughly anyway. So more or less, to non-geeks, THEY ARE THE SAME.

Except for the whole sgx240 = more game compatibility argument is gonna be moot soon as more games are gonna be released to NATIVELY support the Mali, now that the Exynos is running in TWO of the THREE American variants of the SGS2. So if anything, we're not gonna be left out for much longer anyway, game wise. Heck, even the new GTA3 has the (old) SGS2 listed as a supported platform (besides the 4s, the iPad2 and several other dual core Droids).

As of why the new Exynos is NOT in the GalNex, it's simple. It wasn't ready in time. Plus I have a hunch that it HAS to be a Samsung Flagship to get the honour anyway. GalNex is primarily a Google device after all.

So now, the next guy who asks about G or non-G is gonna get silence from me. Unless it's a specific modding question.

agreed... even back then on my SGS, i feel that its much better. The phone itself feels like a slab or plastic, but luckily there's a wide range of protectors to protect it... but the button... haiz

Well, it SHOULD be like that. Unless the ROM is broken. Which ROM you coming from and which are you trying?

And yeah, clearing cache and dalvik helps, most of the time. Unless it's a fullwipe ROM you're moving to, which, as its name entails, needs a full data wipe (factory restore).

depending on the rom. if it say "wipe" den u must wipe data, cache and dalvik, or else jz cope wif endless hell of Fcs.

but usually wipe dalvik and cache is a good practice.

No just go into CWM and clear cache and dalvik cache. It is not factory reset. Some roms also have themes that you need to install to get the same as they advertised.

i see i see. thanks fallen, eiraku and antt

one last question, if things are the way u say they are, then could u help me explain the logic of this. im trying to understand best practice of flashing for android

QUOTE
1. Download Stock Rom P7500-XWKG9 EUR 3G Only http://www.multiupload.com/SGV6N78YY7 [password: samfirmware.com] (Source http://www.samfirmware.com/)

2. Download ODIN3 V1.85 http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...3&d=1304094576

3. Extract stock rom somewhere on your computer also Odin, run Odin and don't touch anything except PDA where you will select previously extracted stock file.

4. Put Tab in Download mode, connect tab to computer, power off, hold power off and volume - till you see two icons then press volume + and if it ask are you sure pres volume + one more time and you are in download mode then ( order of buttons is _power_ _volume -_ _volume+_ )

5. You should see yellow background on first box of odin and that is good your Tab is ready to flash, then click start on ODIN and wait till it reboot.

5.1 Boot in recovery ( Because stock doesn't have if you was following from step one do the root your Tab, as it is on this topic, so download this and put it on the sdcard, then put your Tab to Recovery mode power off, hold power off and volume - till you see two icons then press volume - ,then volume + and you should go to apply update zip file and you will select this file and when it is done you should reboot your device. )

6. Make a nandroid backup

7. Wipe data/factory reset

8. Flash BroodComb Alpha

9.Reboot and enjoy

i usualy practise a strict FULL WIPE whenever I flash a ROM, just backup with Titanium Backup before you wipe, and then restore. but WITHOUT system data. just apps.
