hi

is FSM = fundsupermart.com.my?
why i couldnt find FSM in the list of PRS providers?
*
Yes.

FSM is not a provider. They're a distributor.

Is this the only benefit?

Most of the people are aiming for the tax saving benefit as PRS is relatively new and not sure if it could surpass EPF in long term.

Affin Hwang Aiiman PRS used to be a shining star last year. But this year the fund performance is weak, even if compared with Affin Hwang Growth PRS and Affin Hwang Moderate PRS. Any comments?
*
Even we do comment on it, what's you action that you want or plan to do? Switch out to another fund?

Switch from Affin Hwang Aiimin PRS TO Affin Hwang Growth PRS
*
How long have you been holding Affin Hwang Aiimin PRS?

If Affin Hwang Growth PRS starts to underperform, you want to switch again?

Do take note that all PRS funds should be kept for long term horizon. Do you want to keep on playing the switching games?

It is NOT transfer. It is switch without cost. If a fund is not performing against its peers, why not switch to better performing fund in same fund house at no cost
*
Even though it's FOC, my question is do you want to keep on switching here and there every year because on certain hiccup?

And I know the difference between transfer and switching? I didn't use the word transfer to another PRS provider.

My take is that as long as the PRS fund is able to provide a consistent annualized return of above 6% (IRR >= 6%), one should not be worried too much since PRS fund is meant to keep for >= 10 years depending on your current age unless you're planning for pre-retirement withdrawal and afford to pay the tax penalty of 8%.

Next take will be as long as the PRS fund doesn't perform super badly like Public China Select Fund or RHB-OSK Gold and General Fund. That will be still fund as PRS risk should be moderate even though they have "growth" (risker) offering. Most of them are just feeder fund to existing funds in their management.

Just my two cents. Hope you guys won't flame over this general view.

Now you can try Affin Hwang for iPad Air contest.

Last year there was Myvi contest by Public Mutual.

I think "impact-wise", yr IRR returns more than that if taking tax relief into account
*
Pure IRR. We actually needs such PRS fund that could achieve this number. Otherwise, no point of investing.

i think best prf fund so far in fsm is CIMB-Principal PRS Plus Asia Pacific Ex Japan Equity - Class C (YTD - 17.1%)
anyone invest in this fund directly rather than buying the CIMB-Principal Asia Pacific Dynamic Income Fund?

how can you monitor the prf fund in morningstar? need paid subscription to view the prf funds?
*
I'm agreed with you!

I can see impressive return from CIMB-Principal Asia Pacific Dynamic Income Fund too.

ROI: 26.5%, IRR: 16%

Super impressive but will be highly volatile. CIMB beats other PRS providers because of this fund. Furthermore, it has 0% sales charge.
*
It is not as volatile as you think despite October turmoil.

We have analyzed it in October:

Because it invests in Asia Pacific excl Japan. Malaysia is only a very small part of them. Not all Asia Pacific countries faced as bad as Malaysia in Oct.
*
CIMB-Principal PRS Plus Asia Pacific Ex Japan Equity - Class C is investing up to 95% in CIMB Asia Pacific Dynamic Income Fund.

But you said that it will be highly volatile, what is your supporting opinion over this claim?

CIMB Asia Pacific Dynamic Income Fund is crowned as Ponzi 2.0 in the FSM thread. Up to 20 to 25% of its NAV, it invests in Australia. The remaining will be in Asia ex Japan region. You can grab another similar mandate fund from other fund manager and compare with it. See which one is more volatile.

CIMB-Principal has changed its reporting methodology in the PRS series fund datasheets. It has no longer displayed the funds that the PRS fund feeds into. sweat.gif

If let say those not interested in tax rebate, is it better to put the money in EPF instead?
*
Not much difference. PRS original intention is to match minimally EPF return.

If you're not interested with tax relief, it's better to find something better than EPF or PRS.

General guideline: EPF/PRS ---> 5 to 6% p.a on average

Hi All Sifu ,

What fund would you all recommend , I really have no idea which fund I should go after .
I just want to invest 3k for the tax rebate before this year end but kinda not sure which to .
If the PRS is paying same as Epf dividend rate is good enough for me ,as long as not making any loss .
Please help all Sifu ....

PRS is still new. Most of the funds are still young at the age of 2 to 3 years.

How old are you? If you're young, just go for something with aggressive risk profile. Over ten to twenty years, the fund will definitely make some profit as it cannot invest in something rhat could go bankrupt. Most of them are just feeding to its own funds that invest locally.
