Hi, I am new to PRS.
As a young investor (24 still consider young?), which PRS will you guys recommend?

I have compare multiple PRS (affinhwang, PB and kenanga) and I found that affinhwang have the best performance? (not sure)

But affinhwang has a slightly higher annual charge compare to others, is it  doesn't matter?

Need advice, thank you.

to see and compare the funds performance...try see this....
http://www.ppa.my/getting-started/funds-re...nd-performance/

but please be aware of some of these commonly provided disclaimer:
Investment involves risk.
The price of securities may go down as well as up, and under certain circumstances an investor may sustain a total or substantial loss of investment.
Past performance is not necessarily indicative of the future or likely performance of the fund.
Investors should read the relevant fund's prospectus for details before making any investment decision.
An Investor should make an appraisal of the risks involved in investing in these products and should consult their own independent and professional advisors, to ensure that any decision made is suitable with regards to their circumstances and financial position.

to see the personal opinion of one of the fellow forummer which was posted recently about his choice of PRS funds and why....try see page 101, post 2016

on the matter of slightly higher annual charge compared to others...I personally does not mind b'cos I am only interested in the performance of the fund when compared against its similar mandated funds.

Hi, really appreciate your valuable opinion!
Can i know what is the different between a growth funds and non-core funds?
I knwo that growth funds are mainly for investor below 40, but hw abt non-core funds?
Is their investment strategy different from each other?

tq
*
hmm.gif there is no basis to say that the age of a person determine the type of fund one should have.....thus i think it is not correct to say growth funds are mainly for investor below the age of 40.
the nearest i can put is the % of one's asset that are allocated to it....this too is most probably not correct too.

Growth funds are mostly...To provide unit holders with long term capital growth by investing principally in equities.

Core and non core funds are used by FSM to advise investor to distinguish the type of funds for a portfolio when trying to do the % of allocation....
"Investors should use a core and supplementary portfolio strategy for effective diversification. The core portfolio must be diversified with foreign funds while the supplementary portfolio holds any funds which allow you to act on market views that you may have."

Hi, i have a noob question here, where can i see the yearly dividends of the particular PRS? I can see the growth % but not the dividend.

My understanding is there should be yearly dividend payouts like PB Mutual, EPF, etc.

Looking to make my first purchase of RM1k for Affin Hwang PRS Growth Fund smile.gif

*** Just found the info below, is it the dividend that is paid on 31/1 yearly?
*
while waiting for responses...you may like to know that, PRS funds is UT funds...thus dividend distribution in UT has no added benefits...it did not add value to your existing value in the UT fund....
(you just got more units but the NAV would drop at about the same value)

Hi guys, newbie here have a noob question

Want to ask all master and sifu, will the distribution taken into consideration while choosing a fund?

TQ!
*
QUOTE(David83 @ Mar 8 2017, 12:47 PM)
No.
*
....
Next time,.. may I suggest explain more lah...else others may simple shoots other views or uses wrong analogy which is NOT good.

Distribution is distributing of asset which includes profits if any after minus other liabilities...

What is the net asset value (NAV)?

The price of each unit is based on the fund’s net asset value (NAV) divided by the number of units outstanding. The NAV of a fund is the market value of the fund's net assets (investments, cash and other assets minus expenses, payables and other liabilities). The NAV is usually computed daily to reflect changes in the prices of the investments held by the fund.

What is the return?
You invest in a fund by buying units in the fund. There is capital gain when the price of the units rises above the price you paid for the fund.
Some funds pay dividends, in terms of units which are reinvested (before distribution you have RM 1000 current value, after distribution you still have RM1000 in it....bcos you got extra units but at lesser NAV).

If nothing is changed on that day of distribution.....the NAV of that fund would drops to reflects the distributed amount....I think we get back abit less cos need to pay govt taxes.....if no distribution no pay taxes thus more in own asset?

in short...distribution is "Left pocket money goes into right pocket" (abit of cents are dropped in that process)(govt taxes, extra cost incurred due to distribution & other extra operational expenses)

so TS, what do you think about this?..."will the distribution taken into consideration while choosing a fund?"

do you think the analogy of buying and renting a house is correct?

if still want to use that analogy,...just add this to it, ...all the rental collected will be used to pay for the repairs, lawyer/agent fees, etc, etc.....Left pocket money goes into right pocket...

Did a comparison table of shariah prs funds. I found out amprs scores higher sharpe ratio and invested in REITS unlike other funds.

Since I'm not yet reached 30 yo, gonna opt for this fund.
*
just a note...
"Past performance is not necessarily indicative of the future or likely performance of the fund"

anyway, some investors would say
"age" should not be used to determine a fund selection

while other would suggest, those below 30 yrs old should be more aggressive in their fund selection, bcos of longer investment horizon...

anyway, the choice is still yours cos you should know yourself better..."Good Luck & May the odds be with you forever".
happy investing

thks..then after check out the historical performance data,..does it means that i buy the highest return fund will be more safer? should i buy in one lump sum rm3k per year or should every month put in some money to buy the fund?first time investment..
*
"does it means that i buy the highest return fund will be more safer?"
The NAV price of a fund may go down as well as up, and under certain circumstances an investor may sustain a total or substantial loss of investment.
Past performance is not necessarily indicative of the future or likely performance of the fund.
An Investor should make an appraisal of the risks involved in investing in these products and should consult their own independent and professional advisors, to ensure that any decision made is suitable with regards to their circumstances and financial position

How do I decide which Private Retirement Scheme (PRS) to invest in?
Your choice and decision should be made based on your goals, risk tolerance, investment time horizon, knowledge and experience.
Different PRS invest in different asset classes, markets and sectors, depending on the investment objective and strategy of that particular fund.
Consequently, they also have different levels of risks and returns.

You may select any one or a combination of funds based on asset classes, asset allocation, conventional or shariah-based funds as well as local or offshore funds.
Alternatively, if you do not wish to select a fund, your contribution by default, will be invested into a fund based on your age group based on default option (age-based funds).

The prs fund got give any dividend every year?after I had invest for one year, and I stop after that, does the money that I put didn't grow at all if no dividend given, and just hope for the NAV to go up? If put into fed,at least still got some interest every year ,right?
*
the dividend distribution before and after does not make any changes to your available value in the fund.
before dividend you have RM10000 in the fund
after dividend you will have RM10000 (approximately) in the fund too

during dividend distribution...you get extra units but the fund price (NAV) would drops to reflect the extra units given to you....

so you think about it...

Oh....that means my hope is that the NAV to go up in the future  until retirement by buying the prs  fund....
*
many data shows that historically equities mkts goes up in the long run....
so based on past records...the value of your investment are expected to go up till retirement....just that maybe when the time you wanted to get the money out...it was a bear periods.

normally for funds that has distribution policy...there is a limit to the fund's NAV up side...cannot goes up and up.....bcos,...during distribution exercise, the NAV will drops....
so your best bet would be, get the extra units during distribution, then hope that the NAV would goes up again before the next distribution.....and hope that this cycle would be repeated again and again until retirement

If not sure....best is seek professionals advices......they can in collaboration with you, access your needs; concerns, risk profiles......it is free...if you know where to get them....

hi, i just encountered this but i have no idea what is this or how it works

from what i read in the faq, i just go sign up for ppa account then put in 1k, i'll get another 1k from govt. right?

then what do i do after that? should i still put in money every month like insurance saving plans or epf?

the incentive given is only to buy units, what kind of unit? sorry i'm really blur at all this.

and the tax relief thing, so the 1k i put in PRS initially can be relieved?

i got the rm500 youth incentive a fews ago when i invested rm3,000 into PRS.

i'm aware that there's another promotion now whereby if you invest rm1,000, you'll get rm1,000 back.

question is, do i qualify since i've received the earlier one? (i'm still qualified in terms of age etc.)
