hey guys, i bought another dv6 6001 recently for my wife, and within 2 weeks there are now graphical flickers in 3d apps and games. Even VLC has some dots. No overclocking whatsoever. I suspect the video ram is bad nw. Can claim warranty? If yes, what are the procedure? I bought the laptop from the HP store in lowyat (mobility square)
She only plays dragon age on her dv6, and this happened. I played bf3, cod, etc on my dv6 and my gf card is still good. Help! |

Hey lee_what2004 and Acid_RuleZz, thanks for the replies. I already uninstalled the current driver and updated with this: (8.830.6.3000) http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwar...068251&sw_lang=
i'll try to upload the vid in a while. Funnily the temps in GPU-Z seems normal (50 degrees idle, 72 degrees on dragon age). And the 3d mark score is still perfectly fine, 6500 on 3dmark vantage. weird. I do hope it's a defective ram stick rather than the vid ram, but i think chances are slim there? |

Hey guys, since my wife's dv6's graphics card's mem chips completely burnt already, i sent to hp service center and got the mobo replaced. now works fine. but i can't configure the switchable graphics method. it's now stuck at dynamic (application based) switching which i really dislike. Tried updating CCC and gf card drivers (it was using the old card drivers), and still the same. Ideas?

QUOTE(jerrywan @ Dec 3 2011, 07:59 PM) guys..how does dv6 look if compare to n55sf? wat is da price now @ lowyat for dv6 now without headfon? Hey, n55sf seems to be a tad more stable compared to dv6, better cooling, i would say. but the big ass Asus logo, and the huge b & o speakers are a bit annoying. Looks rather cheap compared to dv6. Plus, no numpad. tomorro will going there and need some opinions regarding these two lappies.. dv6 can get from mobility square sdn bhd (lowyat 4th floor i think) for rm2799 with free 3 years warranty, 8gigs ram, and all the extra freebies like mouse, headset (not beats, of course), notebook cooler, etc. 1 thing to note is, i had to deal twice this month with HP service center (HP towers damansara) due to problems with both my dv6s (1 fan noise, another one graphics card burnt), but in both cases, warranty service was superb, got it back the day after i sent it in (not to mention free parking at hp towers). So, kudos to HP service center (i wont say the same for hp support though, but u get awesome hp support from this lowyat thread already, so, oh well). |

QUOTE(jerrywan @ Dec 4 2011, 02:10 AM) btw,im comparing wif i5 version of n55sf..da price is 2799 now and same with ur stated price for dv6 which is 2799+its i7.. Hey jerry, there's not much problem with the dv6 if you have been apart of this thread for quite some time (especially with 6001tx). but again, heating problems might be a bit of a concern, and the 6770m can be a tad unstable with certain drivers (but the latest HP november drivers seemed to have solved this). I used to have crash to desktop issues, but with the new drivers, all gone (not to mention bf3 now runs perfectly in seine crossing with no lag). if compare to asus which is only i5 wiith tat price, eveybody will choose i7 rite.. so now,why is tat dv6 price drop so low from 3k ++?? are there so many problems until drop tat much in order to clear the dv6 stock? And again, the service u're gonna get (for warranty claims etc, if any) is gonna be top notch with hp. Not sure about asus though. Hope that helps in your decision making! |

QUOTE(Zhao @ Dec 6 2011, 12:55 AM) Most probably drivers. BF3 sucks with certain drivers, such as 8.830 (will hang after awhile). Really annoying especially if u're on kill streak online. But the november 8.882 drivers are really good. BF3 performance +10 fps, and really stable. Get it here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwar...068251&sw_lang= |

QUOTE(FameMoon @ Dec 7 2011, 01:22 AM) Fixed is the best. I hate dynamic. It's supposed to be in BIOS (F10 during startup) >> System Configuration. Should have an option there for (Switchable Graphics method) or smth like that. I can't find that option on my wife's dv6 6001tx (after the mobo was replaced). Tried flashing the BIOS to F1.B, still no option. It's now stuck in dynamic mode which causes Battlefield 3 to work only in windowed mode. Blardy frustrating. My dv6 is totally fine with BF3 though. I plan to flash my wife's dv6's BIOS to F.13, older BIOS, but will that help? This post has been edited by foogie: Dec 7 2011, 09:21 AM |
