Hey there, I've been scouting around for a notebook and I really like the looks of the DV6.

I've read up a bit on the whole muxless OpenGL switching issue, though. Has it been fixed yet?

Yes, you need to use fixed switching in BIOS and manually switch the GPU in Window. Only for 6100/6b00/6c00 series.

Thanks for the response.

Does this mean it would behave just like the mux-based 60xx series?

Also, this may be a rather stupid question, but how do I know which graphics accelerator it's running on when dynamic switching is enabled?

Hey there, new dv6-6168tx owner here.

Does anyone know if this works if I'm going to run OpenGL applications on the HD 6770M?

Also, I haven't touched AMD drivers in a long time. Would I have to uninstall my old drivers before installing the new ones or can I just install over?

Yes, you need to update the BIOS to F.1A or newer and then set Fixed in BIOS. In windows, open CCC and select High Performance graphic in order to use HD6770M with OpenGL application.

I recommend new user to stick with HP driver until u've familiarize with the laptop as benchmark. biggrin.gif
Do update to HP 8.882 though.. because it come with OpenCL driver.

Btw if you planning to install AMD driver, you need to install it on top of HP driver.

Sorry I meant would I have to uninstall whatever AMD drivers that came with my dv6 before I install HP 8.882?

Thanks for the quick reply.
