Normally, the hard disk LED stays permanently on white and blinks when there's activity right? Or does it stay off and blinks when there's activity?

When running the Windows performance toolkit to optimize boot time, every boot requires the admin elevation, is there anyway to automate this? If not I'll have to click "Ok" every time it boots.

USB 3.0 doesn't work on my dv6, any ideas? Is it caused by the disabling of IAStorage at startup? I didn't disable NUSB3.0 though..
Thanks for all the help |

QUOTE(Acid_RuleZz @ Dec 3 2011, 04:57 PM) IAStor are not related at all. By "doesn't work" u mean nothing u plugged in there working or you didn't get the USB 3.0 speed that you're expecting? Oh okay. I meant my USB 3.0 hard drive didn't work at 3.0 speeds. It used to work at 3.0 though. Not sure what is causing this.Do you have USB 3.0 in your device manager? ![]() EDIT: Yes, my device manager shows the same thing as yours. This post has been edited by keyzjh: Dec 3 2011, 05:15 PM |

Are there any noticeable lags/delays if Turbo Boost is disabled?

Do I install this above the AMD-HP driver, or is it not needed? |

Gonna try out leshcat's independent driver. Changelog looks good. Both Intel and AMD drivers are more updated than HP site.
EDIT: Surprisingly the file size is only half of the HP driver O_O This post has been edited by keyzjh: Dec 6 2011, 05:09 PM |

Just tested Leshcat driver on skyrim, works great.
Leshcat mentioned a feature where you can switch between dynamic and fixed. But I can't see it in my switchable graphics properties. And last time when I was on DNA, OpenHardwareMonitor shows 100MHz for AMD card when it is turned off, but now it shows 0? Should I reinstall the driver? |

QUOTE(kAmilli @ Dec 7 2011, 12:42 AM) What model of DV6 do u have? if 6168Tx or another one he mentioned, u should log into your bios for that, change it, and then u will have the option inside the catalyst. On other dv6 laptops it doesn't work, like my 6001tx. About HardWare - maybe because the driver is not supported by them, don't worry, as long as you can play Skyrim means everything is alright. If you see any errors, fps drops, sudden crashes - you might wanna reinstall, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it I have the 6114TX which has dynamic switching. Yes BIOS works for switching, but leshcat mentioned that his modded CCC can allow changing from dynamic to fixed and vice-versa in the "switchable graphics" section. |

Be careful about the international warranty from HP. My friend who bought the dv6 here in Malaysia, was unable to claim warranty from HP United Kingdom. HP UK simply asked him to contact HP Malaysia, which is stupid IMHO for a so called "international warranty"
It has been 2 weeks and they still insist on contacting HP Malaysia. |

Lately I've been getting the Synaptics pointing device helper popup from UAC at windows startup. I don't recall this happening before previously. How can I disable this if I don't want to disable UAC?

QUOTE(amie_the_fakes3 @ Dec 16 2011, 01:12 AM) Go to your BIOS during startup. Change the switchable graphics option to Fixed instead of Dynamic. Then press F10 to save and exit. When windows is started up, choose High Performance GPU in CCC to stay on the radeon card across all applications. QUOTE(Coisox @ Dec 16 2011, 03:03 AM) How does the Switchable Graphic works? Mine when plugin/take out power, it will prompt whether to switch or not even I have tick "Automatically select power saving GPU when on battery". So its not seemless switching. Normal or not? If your model is 6001TX, then you will not have dynamic switching. Only 6114, 6108, and 6168 have dynamic switching.Yes, fixed switching is not seamless as it will black out during switching. Dynamic switching is seamless. This post has been edited by keyzjh: Dec 16 2011, 03:21 AM |
