Recently the workshop that I used to service said the Petronas
Synthium 800 5w30 was no more....now replaced with 10w40/10w30

I ask around Petronas and they also say the same.
only 10w available on shelves.

I've serviced using this oil for many times already
and collected the left over oil.
I've nearly got a bottle of 4L( enuf for 1 service)
now they say no more in production so how?

can anyone verify this?

Don't worry, you can buy Perodua 5w30, API SM, it is semi syn and it is made by Petronas... and it is cheaper than Syntium 800.

According to Petronas Dagangan web, Syntium 800 5w30 semi syn is API SM and ILSAC GF-4 certified

According to API web, Syntium 800 5w30 semi syn is now API SN (one notch above SM) certified with "resource conserving"... without any ILSAC

ILSAC GF-4 is no longer valid after 30th September 2011 and it is now replaced with GF-5... and Syntium 800 is not ILSAC GF-5 certified/approved... technically, this oil can be considered quite a good oil before 30th September 2011, but judging by current standard, it has not been able to meet current ILSAC standard yet... So why not looks else where for 5w30 which is API SN, ILSAC GF-5 approved?

Be very cautious not to choose oil without official API or ILSAC approval.... All official approvals can be checked here http://eolcs.api.org/, it is always up to date...

never knew it was SN coz i always see it labeled as API-SM?

I changed to this oil after realizing that perodua's oil was API-SL.

which was inferior compare to API-SM?

any oil can recommend which is API-SN and ILSAC GF-5?
