Hi all,

Recently I bought a 16GB microSD card for my wife's camera (Casio Exilim EX-Z670). When we tried using the card with its SD adapter in the camera it managed to take a few shots but suddenly it would show a "Card Error" message and the ONLY way I could get it to work again was by deleting the 0kb file created by the camera in the card. once that file is deleted the card could be used as usual again. However the only way to access the card and delete the 0kb file is by using a laptop/PC since the camera itself detects the card as faulty.

When I took the card back to the shop (Harvey Norman - Singapore Centerpoint branch), the told me that I bought the wrong card and that card was not suitable for my wife's camera. Now I am no pro in this area but since all phones and other devices that use microSD cards can be used with any brand and model, are camera's choosy on the type of card? In the end she insisted that if I wanted a replacement they would give me a regular SD card instead if a microSD with adapter. So I turned them down and took back my card.

So my questions are,

1. are microSD's with adapters usable with cameras?
2. are camera's card model sensitive?
3. if both above answers are 'No', any idea why I am facing this problem with my new Kingston 16GB microSD card?

Thank you for your help.

regards,
Meso

Thanks for the reply iXora.

I have tried other microSD's with the adapter and it they work. Only the said microSD doesn't work.

Funnily though when I took it to the shop, the sales person tried the card with 2 camera's. One didn't work but the other did.

After I brought the card home I checked the microSD and there were two folders inside. One called "Database" and another called "DCIM" which had a subFolder called "100Casio" inside which itself contained some photos but curiously not the 0kb file I initially thought was causing the problems.

Sigh.. what do I do? It isnt spoilt so I don't think I can get the card replaced and even if I do it still might not work. Could it be the camera's fault?

Thanks again for the reply. I really do appreciate it.

I`m sorry to say this, but why don`t you just buy SDHC card in the first place?
but yes perhaps you wanna use it for your phone memory later so yes microsd is good to go.

so you`re saying that the adapter itself have no problem as it can be used to insert another microsd card and the 2nd microsd is working fine? but not the kingstone?
yet the kingstone microsd is not a faulty copy as it can be used in another camera?

perhaps it`s the files in the microsd card.
tried formatting the card?
and re-format the card while it`s in camera?

goodluck

yes, try reformat with pc 1st.
then reformat again in camera.
you might need to borrow some of your friend sdhc card to test whether is a card or the camera problem smile.gif

Thanks guys~

I'll try that when I get the chance since I'm back in Malaysia while my wife is still in Singapore.

Anyways, for now I guess I'll just use it for my music player. ^^
