Watched SG Phase 2... i would have loved this short series more, due to the fact that it is indeed more like a war film rather than super robot ala GSD style. And the dark gloomy atmosphere of the animation is very well done.

But again it shows glimpses of CE styled action, ie main gundam pwns grunts with 1, 2 shots, as shown by Strike noir in the beginning. gundam pwning grunts without blinking an eye is typical of CE, and grunts will always be killed like flies unless plot calls for it.

Anyway, SG is still hell better than the whole of GSD, even though it's only 30 minutes out of a total 45... Keep up the good work!!

The early 3 astrays were the best looking ones around. Each had different configurations, yet they retained the basic astray look. The head, despite different bits and parts of the Blue and Gold Frame, always shouts "I am an Astray!! And all 3 had the same torso and legs, with slight color changes and some addons here and there.

The Outframe and Testament were different. Different looking head with gigantic antennae reminiscent of bunny ears. Both had different torso and legs. Not forgetting weird weapons and accessories... Giant crab claw? ZOMFG... Hotel backpack

And I don't need to elaborate on Delta... Eva + V2 anyone? The non-astray head is the most unforgivable part.

I'm watching the Zeta movies now... dled ep 1 and 2, but only finished ep 1. Watching the action scenes alone made me feel that WOW GSD really is crappy But i guess it's unwise to cram all the stuff into a movie, coz the pacing of the story is quite poorly done. It jumps from one scene to another without any transition, and a lot of things and explanation are left out. For example the repainting of the Titans MKII into the white AEUG one, the development of Hyaku Shiki, the reasons (excuses) of Titans' actions and authority, the main struggle of AEUG etc. I guess the movie tries to show more of the action scenes, and assumes that the viewers have already watched the original series (which I haven't )

There are several redone scenes, and the difference in quality is immediately contrasted. I wonder why Sunrise didn't remake all the scenes? It would look much more beautiful had they did. Char's presence is immediately felt... This is a true portrayal of a leader!! The shallow fake Lacus can go back to kampung... And Kira, the supposed Amuro Ray had none of Amuro's charisma and maturity.

Hm... going to watch ep2 later... but still havent gotten my hands on ep3... cannot find torrent... anyone has it??

Eternal? The last time i heard this name, it was proven to be a rumour. Maybe they decided to resurrect this once more.

I still cannot understand why Kira and co. are so mobbed by the fans. The old Kira in Seed maybe, but not the emotionless robotic one in GSD. And Athrun in GS is much better than the wishy washy junk in GSD. Maybe it's just me, but I prefer complex characters in anime, characters which actually show two sides of personality. Shinn was supposed to be that kind of person, until they ruined him along with the other cast.

In fact, all of the main characters in GSD was dummified in GSD to emphasise on how great Kira and Lacus were.

We need someone like Char back... Or the very least a Treize or a Zechs. Sven of Stargazer has the potential to become a very complexed character, assuming that he changes his perspective when he meets Selene of DSSD (in ep3 that is); but I suppose SG OVA is too short to elaborate on each character.

I was brought up by AU... AC to be exact, since my full series was Gundam W...
Seed was decent, and actually had serious issues that was thought-provoking, like racial issues, genetic manipulation. GSD too had them, and they even had a potential political struggle when Yuna first appeared. But after one epsiode, Yuna turned from a crafty cunning politician into a joker with no brains. I don't understand the change.

seed destiny? mature? i hope you mean seed, rather than GSD... please watch some UC, or at least GW which has serious talk in it.

You are free to like GSD as much as possible, and we welcome all sorts of discussion on it. But it would be better if you could elaborate much more on the good points of GSD, as we have always focused more on the bad parts. I am sure GSD has certain parts that make it worth watching (for you that is ), but comparatively to other series, it is undeniably inferior.

One of the failures in GSD (besides the horrible plot and pacing and character destroying) was it's animation. If I remember correctly, it was reported that GSD's budget was much more higher than GS, yet do you see any improvement in the animation? I've watched Zeta gundam movie recently, and I must say the remade scenes were hell lot better than GSD, even better than Stargazer's.

Recent anime have artwork which would easily put GSD's to shame, and with a large budget, GSD's animation could have done a better job instead of abusing recycled scenes. GW had recycled scenes too, but it was used in a good way without annoying the viewer. Gundam V had even less recycled scenes, as with Gundam X.

The animation for the older series of Gundam like MSG, Zeta was horrible in today's standards But it gives a retro feel haha...

Speaking of animation, got this from animesuki forum... It's another anime done by the same artist of GS and GSD... Look how similar those characters are to virtually all of Seed's main cast. The only difference is the hairstyle and color.

Erm... first half? I thought only up to the episode of Lohengrin Gate was decent. Decent, not superbly good, to make things clear. And 0 deaths + flawless victory was a joke, seriously a joke. Even Power Rangers get their butt kicked sometimes.

That's not a sequel. And Kira + Lacus was a bad pairing in GSD. In GS, their relationship was much better done. But in GSD? It was more like authorative figure + subordinate... Or evil queen + henchman.

Gundam's love relationships were never really well done. At least in the series I watched. It's understandable though since gundam's theme is on war. I actually feel that relationships that were comparatively better are those involving supporting casts, eg Murrue and Mwu... Zechs and Noin...

Yup, GSD's songs are quite nice... The 1st and 2nd OP were very suitable for the anime, but the 3rd one was a boring pop song by a teen queen... the 4th one was a good song, but I didn't think it was suitable for GSD. The ED themes were better, all 4 of them.

But among all the series I've watched so far, I still think GW's Just Communication suits the best. Having said so, Stand Up To the Victory is the one which keeps on ringing in my head... damn catchy.

Coz the songs are catchy?
I don't like Believe... I only like Realize... Reason was good, but not as nice as Realize.

Oh ya, Gundam X's opening was quite decent too, but still it lacks the oomph and feel of GW's opening.

Personally I prefer GW than GX... GX's pacing is horrible and it makes me feel like I'm watching a power ranger cartoon, since each ep has a single baddie which gets kicked in the same ep (except for those annoying twins). And the main baddie Federation only gets established in the final few eps... meaning it kinda wasted the previous 30+ eps...

But still, there are some good points too. It seems that Gundam X was the one that got kicked the most among all UC main mechas (although it also had plot armor).

I prefer GW's mecha coz they are more interesting... You could say stereotype too ... Shenlong = China = Dragonhead + Glaive... Sandrock = Arab = Scimitars
But preferences for designs are indeed personal and subjective.

That's why I said it wasted the previous 30+ episodes.

But I agree on the part where the enemies are much more smarter. AU's grunts are often cannon fodder, but those monoeyes in GX actually kicked GX quite a number of times. GW's grunts do have their glorious moments, like how they thrashed Deathscythe and Shenlong in space.

Speaking of Grunts... I still think television headed Leos, television+helmet Aries, and television+ icecream cone Taurus are very well designed. They are not sleek, but boxy and heavy looking, much more like military machines than the fanciful gundams. The choppers in Victory are nice too... ugly but adorable.

And plot armor does exist in both GW and GX... Heero should have been chopped to pieces by Zechs in Antartica when he furiously slashed Heavyarms' torso with beam sabres. Trowa was still in one piece when half of Bayette's cockpit was blasted to smithereens. GX was chopped in the same manner like Heero, and shot in the chest numerous times by the twins. And we'll never forget CE's plot-cheatcodes

Conclusion?
Plot Armor > Conventional armor, Beams, bullets, explosions

Just watched Char's Counterattack this afternoon... SUPERB... The battles were absoultely stunning, making CE's look elementary school. And the animation was greatly improved from Zeta's retro look.

Loved the pacing of the story, even at times it seem a bit slow. The characters were rather well elaborated and developed, although I don't know what the fuss is about the cyan haired lass, Quess. OK, she's a newtype, and a very good one, but having two hotblooded teenage boys going gaga all over her along with babysitter Char is a bit farfetched. Especially when the hotblooded teens are ready to kick their own comrads' butt for the girl.

DUH. It's a bloody war out there and you're fighting over a girl? Grow up.

The duel btw Sazabi and Nu was one of the better duels I've seen lately, it's up there along with Providence + Freedom, TallGeese + Heavyarms, Druggies + Freedom/Justice. But having two heavy machines boxing each other like kids was indeed more exciting than shooting at each other (and missing as in other series).

CCA... Top notch... only to be spoiled by the abrupt ending. Why do Gundams anime always get messed by loose endings?

One question though: Who is Lalah Sune and why the heck does her appearance mess up Amuro and Char?? Didn't watch MSG, hence the question.

no i'm not complaining about igloo i think it's fine... i watched the 1st and 2nd ep and i felt that the battles were quite nicely done... z'gok riding on a plane haha...

CCA's ending was too abrupt... it's like they were talking halfway with all the green auroras around.. and suddenly put came the credits, very abrupt. But I enjoyed the whole movie, kept me in full attention throughout the show.

Amuro pushing Axis is super plot powah!!

Newtypes can do anything in UC... push a gigantic asteroid like Amuro did, or suck all fragments of the Angel Halo back into space when the crash was imminent in Victory... Hail Plot Powah!!

^ stargazer there were also news about a Seed Movie, but till now there's no confirmation of an ep3 of CE... I hope there isn't any more Kira and co... Let's make the new Seed at CE 130 onwards...

So now, it's time to watch the older UC.... or the older AU

Red Frame tries too hard for the GM look... by wearing a helmet !!

haha... i think astrays are getting worse and worse... red frame=simple yet stunning. Blue frame=gatling!! who doesnt love gatlings? gold frame = big bad ass bling bling... gold frame is the meanest among them all.

outframe = mobile hotel (ok, the suit itself is decent... but the backpack ), testament = crab claw with rabbit ears, delta astray = DSSD astray = look ma, i got myself a helmet!! full armor astray=gelgoog wannabe

having said that, GSD's designs are sort of a tribute to the UC mecha, those zakus... those doms... only to fail miserably. maybe the next installment of CE we'll be able to witness beam rotors
