temp reading when idle....

Attached Image
Temp reading when running prime95.....(few mins only)...

Condition:
Attached Image
(i know it kind of messy but just for temporary setup...tongue.gif)

stock frequency (2.66G)
voltage set at 1.35V (stock i think at 1.3375V)
(i set to 1.35V becoz when i run prime95 at 1.3375V, after 1 min it's BSOD..... doh.gif )
Disable EIST and C1E
CPU cooling method just using normal thermaltake heatsink at room temp...

Question:
1). Since there got so many different temp reading for my CPU. I want to know, which reading above is the correct temp reading for my CPU or core temp? Because i worry will hit my Tcase-max which is 64.5C
2). The core temp reading is different around 7-8C each other(especially Core0 and Core1 will hotter), even all core are running same activity...is that normal?

I'm now on my way to purchase CM hyper 212+, just have to wait stock arrive. rolleyes.gif

Thanks in advance..

core temp will be more precise and normal for core to have different temp...

may consider to get xigmatek gaia... better bundle + more value... with larger heatpipes than the 212+...

your style of locating the fan seem not efficient..

always pick a highest ready as a upper limit for safety purpose.

yes, intel temp reading differ for each core, not like amd

with cm 212+ sure will see improvement in cooling. this should give u some headroom for overlock

just not understand with "highest ready as a upper limit for safety purpose"....haha..sorry for that..
by default dint have that "white fan" de... i can feel the heat when i close the casing without the white fan. after that only open that cover a put extra fan for it to reduce the heat...(simply put only...tongue.gif)... but still have to wait my 212+ arrive...smile.gif...

anyway...just wondering, this CPU already so high temp at stock freq with normal heatsink.... Then how if i change the heatsink to 212+...will it really help alot?...becoz im not at air-cond room...>_<.... maybe excepted reduce around 10C... becoz base on current reading...my CPU temp(Tcase) already over 64.5C (68C) when load.. even Blue Screen...sleep.gif...
some more if overclock?....cannot even think about that....

Clearly your heatsink is too small to accomodate the QX6700. You must remember yours is the Kentsfield B3 revision which tends to run hotter than the Kentsfield G0 for the Q6600. Need bigger heatsink. I'm previous owner of Q6600 using a Xigmatek S1283 heatsink . Can clock 3.2ghz easily and run linX below 70C stable. Your thermaltake heatsink look even smaller than the original C2Q heatsink (dont compare with Pentium Dual Core and C2D, its different in terms of the fan and heatsink material). Only your fan is bigger than the stock heatsink.

Using Hyper 212+ will definitely lower your temperature. Dont worry so much about the T Case thingie. Just make sure the core temperature stays below 80C. Its quite safe. HW Mon Pro is quite accurate.

Thank for your advise bro.... biggrin.gif ...
ur 70C is it the Core (Tj) temp?. that reading for HW mon pro?...i have notice that the HW mon and HW mon pro core temp reading almost same... but the app "Core Temp" reading will lower than that...which 1 correct ar??...i also get to know that "Core Temp" reading is real.... anyway if "Core Temp" reading is real... then should be no problem for me to overclock after attached 212+.....smile.gif..

haha..nvm....let wait for my 212+ come 1st.. then will update u guys after that .......thanks guys... notworthy.gif

ops typo. its should be 'highest reading'

i own s1283(not rs) now n its not bad. some review proof it slightly better than hyper 212+. q6600 go stepping sure good at oc, reach 3.5ghz no prob

Ok...
End up...I go for Xigmatek Gaia SD1283.... boecoz of that hyper 212+ out of stock....then cant wait anymore....
The price also not much different RM85 for 212+ RM89 for SD1283.....

Attached Image
Attached Image

After use that heatsink....i notice the temp really cooler than be4...smile.gif
Attached Image
2.66Ghz Vcore1.35V

Just that, i'm still cannot run prime95 for more than 1min.....some time not even 10secs..sleep.gif.....
2.66Ghz Vcore Normal - Fail
2.66Ghz Vcore 1.35V - Fail
2.66Ghz Vcore 1.36V - Fail
3.2Ghz Vcore Normal - Fail
3.2Ghz Vcore 1.38V - Fail
3.2Ghz Vcore 1.4V - Fail
3.2Ghz Vcore 1.44V - Fail
3.2Ghz Vcore 1.48V - Fail
1.6Ghz Vcore Normal - Fail
.
.
.
temp for all are normal...won't more than 80C
i try LinX as well...also BSOD......
i also though my Enermax 535W power supply not enuf power.....so i change my graphic card to 9500GT.....but the result also same...

At the end....i don't care about that anymore.... i just make sure it can run PCmark Vantage and 3DMark Vantage without error at 3.2G Vcore 1.3625V.......
Attached Image Attached Image

Just for that prime95, i really no idea about that ord... is it my voltage to high or low?... i saw some ppl set their QX6700 to 3.2G with 1.48V...that's y i dare to tune up to that voltage...

After try and try...

The problem finally solved...... biggrin.gif .....

Solution is i set 325MHz for FSB and 10 for multiplier.. Vcore at 1.35V....

Attached Image
Run Prime95 LargeFFT for 33 mins...

Attached Image
Run Prime95 Blend for 35mins...(at least more than 1 min.... sweat.gif hehe)

Attached Image
LinX run 25 times..... (this test generate alot of heat for my CPU.. blink.gif )

Overall, the speed and the heat still ok for me.... nod.gif
So u guys think is it the CPU temp safe to use?...Or can i up some more....tongue.gif

i had try to set slightly higher the FSB to 333MHz and Vcore up to 1.35625V...but, the result is fail....
so i think why last time i cannot run prime95 becoz of FSB issue... yawn.gif ..sleep.gif....
