I'm considering to get another GTX580 for my rig. Anyone of you using GTX 580 in SLI mode? Please share your average FPS and experience.

from the beta build, i don't really think you need GTX 580 in SLI.. if u game at 1920x1080 or 1920x1200

Yes only gtx 580 SLi and onwards can support ULTRA SETTINGS when the full game comes out. Make up your mind. They haven't unlock the full settings for the beta yet.

single gtx 580 is enough already..no need for SLi two 580's unless u have extra money to burn

I hope they unlock the lowest settings for the full game for me to gain some more fps. Right now, I set everything to low, the game still looks really beautiful, no difference from high settings...and the FPS difference is like 5fps only....even after restart the game...

usually outside u wont notice much difference.
only indoors where all the fancy lighting starts to take effect that u will.

i play Bf3 beta at 0.91 Fps
with my netbook

then that must be some bad eye

i can play it on my net book... lolz... but with my rig .. at 50+ - FPS

single GTX 580 for 1920x1080 ultra is very enough,

if u want perfect lagfree, then 2x SLI

dont need go more than that,

btw there's beta AMD and NV driver for BF3, it works for both SLI and Xfire

my 2x5870 fully used GPU 99% real time,=.= first game I played that is fully stressing my both graphic cards

Almost the same spec as yours, but If I were you I would grab an SSD first instead

stick with 1 GTX 580 first la even my GTX 570 don't even struggle on high settings, 1920x1080. And I believe the FPS will increase when the beta drivers are improved.

I can even play ultra settings, but on 1680x1050 lah.

It's the other way around. When I was playing the FPS was much higher indoors than outdoors. I assume this is due to the indoors have less stuff to render compared to outdoors, even with the different lighting

I want to get cheap GTX460 but out of stock

dont listen to the blind quotes from someone who uses an amd regarding the heat or driver issues. im running gtx580 sli and im getting and avg. of 112fps and lowest is 85-ish fps.

just to let you know 1 card is enough and the avg is 60-ish fps and low is arounf 39fps.

these cards run cooler in bf3 than in bc2. NO DRIVER problem wotsoever. just remember to clear away dust and you will be fine.

agree its the other way round, when outdoors my fps range from 35-50, indoors 50-80

imo go for it!, i know i will if i haz the cash

bf3 is more to outdoor anyway so u can see higher fps

Thanks for the feedback. Yes I got think of waiting for the new series come out then only see the market price and performance.

I play the game in 1920x1080 on Samsung S23A950D 120Hz monitor, 55fps for me is still suffering and remember that now we only playing in Rush mode but not the huge map with huge view and armory yet. Might wait the full release then see how.

That is what I'm waiting for.

This is what I am looking for, lag-free for 120Hz monitor would be insanely awesome. Now I'm getting 55fps average for Rush mode in Operation Metro. I believe when full release there will be even more graphic hunger. I'm now running nVidia BETA driver 285.38.

Seriously this game graphic is awesome but too much bug and glitches in BETA.

Surely the need to push the graphic performance will be needed once the release of Battlefield 3. But I'm not sure how much the graphic improvements will be.

GTX580 SLi is popular standard these days for PC gaming enthusiast. Go for it. What is there to waste if you like to game a lot.

Or should I wait for 600 series? I guess when 600 series come out, the price will be still at high range. Just get SLi GTX580 and wait for further upgrade like 800 series or 900 series.

Quad SLi can be in two types:

Dual GTX590 (dual chips in single card, 2 cards are equal to 4 GPU chips)
or
Quad GTX580

If you're playing on a 1920 x 1080 resolution I don't see why it isn't sufficient. Adding up another card for SLI doesn't always mean performance is doubled and you will need to see what is the utilization like in the game. Every game is different and this is due to the coding and driver support.

Just Do it...get dual Gtx 580s and have no regrets i would if i have the budget for this month. kasi hantam saja one more graphic card in the computer case.

Sure not a problem, once I confirm then I will get it for sure instead of waiting for 600 series. If I want to upgrade in the future then I might wait for something 700 or 800 series.

Now I have LEADTEK GTX 580 1.5GB version and the seller does not carry 1.5GB version anymore but selling 3GB version. Can the 3GB version SLI with my current 1.5GB version? Core speed, bus speed everything the same just the dedicated RAM capacity is different.
