my 3-yr old 80GB PATA WD HDD starts making squeking noise when it's on. the noise is more annoying and louder than my case fan. i run HD Tach. OMG, the burst speed is only 25MB/s. why so low?
so, i run the WD Data LifeGuard Diagnostic tool and run the full scan on it. but  the results are OK. i'm very worried about losing my data should the HDD failed suddenly.
what's happening to my HDD?

Just wondering that if i having a PATA primary hard drive, cause i use a SATAII Hard drive for secondary? Cause i might upgrade system in the near future but still my current 40GB is lack of space, need 2 get 250GB in the next few days..

Btw tat my 478 chipset motherboard come with SATA but its SATA1 only, can it run SATA2 nicely? Any downside for tat beside the speed of coz only running at SATA1 speed (which i dun care much)
