1 x 40Gb Maxtor (5 Years)
1 x 40Gb Western Digital (4 Years)
1 x 160Gb Seagate (3 Years)
1 x 160Gb Maxtor (2 Years)
1 x 160Gb Western Digital SATA2 (< 1 Years)
All my HD work perfectly although 1 of my 160Gb cannot be serve as primary hd, but work as storage perfectly.
Bcoz I got 1 very old Western Digital so WD always become my first priority. However, after comparing between both my 40Gb HD, come out that my WD have higher temperature than Maxtor (check with SpeedFan). I set Maxtor as my Primary (Master) and WD as Slave. Put one on top of another. But the temperature diff. is very large. More than 5 degrees. Don't know what the cause, but I think may be the HD placing.
For 160Gb, the temperature almost the same, with 1 degree diff.
For performance, as I use for routine such surfing and mp3, can't notice any different.

Anyone has comments on placing the HDD vertically or horizontally inside the casing? Will placing vertically has negative effect as compared to horizontal?
I also want to know about this.
