i bought my external HDD a months ago..60GB seagate momentus 5400..how ever, after i used it for i found that my total capacity including used and free disc spaces left only 55.87 GB..is this normal or there is something wrong with my HDD?

btw, is there anyway to prevent the bad sector problem??..  |
