I just bought a new Samsung 400GB drive [PATA] today and it's quite quiet I must say. And together I bought an enclosure to support it as my primary use will be for storage.

QUOTE(besaid @ Aug 25 2006, 11:52 PM) is it normal for harddisk to b noisy??? It should be fine... my 80GB WD drive is making noise too from the first day. Guess it's ok as if there's noise, means that the hard disk is making some reading or writing activities, and if you are scared, always scan the drive for any bad sectors and monitor it closely. But then my latest Samsung drive is quite quiet if compared to my WD. Maybe different manufacturers...my WD make lots of noise wen doin video editing... its new too,juz 2-3months only |
