IMO Western Digital has the lowest failure rate. I may be biased because most of my friends are using WD... And have never complained it has failed before. Over the last 3 computers i had ranging from year 2000 until now all WD HDD are still in perfect working order with S.M.A.R.T. still showing OK status. Oh yeah Btw, i do torrents heavily and back my data up frequently but it has been 3 years and everything is still fine.
