lolz... now the maxtor HDD consist of seagate technology also.. i bought a maxtor HDD not long ago and found that its a 3.5 series 7200.9... haha...

haha.. better dont go for those brand like hitachi or samsung.. they are not specialist in making HDD if compare to seagate, maxtor and WD.. so its more reliable if you buy those specialist brand like seagate or WD.. smile.gif

haha.. my post didnt mention about fujitsu and i didnt say that fujitsu is lousy.. smile.gif fujitsu is not bad thats why toshiba laptop use fujitsu HDD.. and also fujitsu have shock sencer technology.. smile.gif

woot! still got ppl support hitachi.. haha.. no offence lah.. i just want to say that hitachi is not a specialist HDD maker... if we can get more reliable brand like WD or seagate.. why not go for it? smile.gif

eh maxtor user here.. i used 3 maxtors dy and no problem... and now seagate acquired maxtor dy.. maybe there is some improvements.. at least maxtor are better than hitachi or samsung HDD.. just my point of view.. smile.gif

please describe more how is the noise... HDD produce noise when loading is quite normal... but if idle also noisy then something wrong with it... smile.gif

the HDD price drop alot... i bought 160gb for rm 175 during this year's chinese new year... but now, rm 160 can buy 250gb... d@mn regret.. sad.gif

how do you install your HDD in your casing? horizontal or vertical? and do you concern about the temp of the HDD? smile.gif HDD also gets hot... for mine only 37C..

I would guess they were running 50C - 60C depending on load. They seemed to run hotter than other brand disks, that's why I was wondering if it was the heat that killed them.

The WD incidents happened about 5 years ago, todays drives may be different.  unsure.gif

ya temp will kill the HDD too... many of them dont care about the HDD temp, thats why their HDD die so fast... for me i used 120mm cooling fan to blow directly on the HDD.. smile.gif maxtor lousy? nah.. 3 of my maxtor never die...
