Hi all,

Want to ask, is there any good software to scan the HDD for bad sector, physical scan or whatever scan to check if there's any prob with HDD?

Some files on my HDD suddenly become corrupted...want to make sure if the HDD is ok sweat.gif

seagate's SMART fitness readings are different from other HDD manufacturers
thats why you will see the fitness reading far lower compare to other brand of HDDs
i have two seagates, one maxtor, one samsung and another WD connected together
and i found out the seagates' fitnesse is the lowest among all
even on my friend's comp also the same thing

erm.. if you really want, just choose the cheapest offered price you can find. After all, different prices already help you to decide haha

About this speedfan software, well, i try try to dl it after seeing ur post there, lol.
BTW, under SMART, i run a in depth online analyst, and i get this

QUOTE
NOTE : your hard disk Power Cycle Count attribute current value (245) is below the normal range (247 - 253) reported for your specific hard disk model. Basically your hard disk was power cycled more times than the maximum number the average hard disk was. Power cycles put some stress on the hard disk mechanic. Sometimes power cycles can be caused by a loose hard disk power connector. Make sure it is properly fastened.

The overall fitness for this drive is 90%.
The overall performance for this drive is 90%.

Indeed the power cycle is lower that the range.... anyway to fix this? or izzit important.... it says there it will put mechanic stress on the HDD sweat.gif

Dear All

I'm looking for a device which can lock up a harddrive so that no copying file is allowed. Anyone can recommend me what device to use? or probably software which can do the same thing.

Your help would be appreciated.
