Just wondering that if i having a PATA primary hard drive, cause i use a SATAII Hard drive for secondary? Cause i might upgrade system in the near future but still my current 40GB is lack of space, need 2 get 250GB in the next few days..

Btw tat my 478 chipset motherboard come with SATA but its SATA1 only, can it run SATA2 nicely? Any downside for tat beside the speed of coz only running at SATA1 speed (which i dun care much)

hi i wanna ask thr.i plan to buy a new hard disk for my pc but the problem is my pc only got 1 hard disk slot.i wan to add another hard disk to my pc but don have a slot for my new hard disk.if i just put the hard disk at other place also can rite?

only the inner layouts are the same... but material, handwork, parts from diff company... i used to work in WD factory as an operator and i heard they bought a company which produce the head for the hardisk at the time... 4got the name d though... was round 3 years ago... and WD manufactured the HDD for XBox tat time... not sure bout XBox 360 though...   but i see WD Raptor being the only admirable product of WD...

Anyway... I'll need a 250GB/16MB/SATAII HDD soon... There are many refurbished HDD or clones around...   anyway to identify them...?

Therefore, disable NCQ if you using the NCQ enabled harddisk for storing game executable file (where you install these games), and file archival. NCQ is optimized for simultaneous read/write request. I think it can be used in client server model where the harddisk is for network storage which a bunch of network users can retrieve or put files on the NCQ enabled harddisk.

what kind of defragmenter software do u use?

Did you checked other possibilities such as malware reside inside your WinXP OS? Find and get rid of them.

I used PerfectDisk and UltimateDefrag software which offer comprehensive way of defragment the harddisk.

can i ask u people.. now biggest storage for notebook hdd how big @ ?GB.. my fren wanna buy one of those big storage one as he dunno wanna buy notebook or pc.. will use it as external HDD.. maybe next sem buy the laptop/pc..

i suggest him, better buy normal hdd, use a external enclosure and just plug the power.. cheaper.. if he wan easy transfer around, here come 4gb pendrive right..

My Seagate is "Made From China" and its still hot anyway
in hot days can go as high as 48c, normal days around 40-42c
And its quite noisy too

Quantum really good quality.
Maxtor ? A piece of shit. All my maxtor HDD die within a year. + alot overheat issue.
Seagate not so good cos my previous 80gb seagate sata die in 1 year.
Now got 2 80gb WD and 160gb WD, almost 2 years d still work perfect.

Think about to try seagate again on my next harddisk, but you guys know seagatemaxtor ? kind of worried to use back cos maxtor bad stock might affect seagate quality, better stick back to WD.

Can Seagate ES or VS, use on normal mobo desktop? 939 mobo.

intend to get a seagate 250gb sata 3gb 8mb at pc fair.  here are my questions:

(a) is there a 16mb one? 

(b) i suppose 3gb refers to speed and should be faster than 7600rpm, no?

(C) what are the possible defects found on this hdd?  for eg.  noisy, hot, unstable, undetectable?  any existing users out there?  ur comments are appreciated.

any other hdd which is worth buying instead of the above?  still cant decide which hdd is good after reading this thread
