juz got my 250gb hitachi hdd... very quiet... kindda hot though... 40 degrees nia compared to 35 degrees on my maxtor... now oni i noticed tat my old 30gb maxtor is half the thickness of the new hdd...
the speed is fast... 2 minutes to transfer a 1.2gb file from my maxtor to the new hitachi...
one problem now... one of the screw of my maxtor hdd is damaged... i cant remove it from my cpu now >< i wanna transfer it to my old old old comp to use it as a file server... =(

got the screw out with the electric drill's screw driver dy =P phew!
my maxtor came along with my desktop... 4 to 5 yrs old dy... ><

Those older maxtor running very hot, even my raptor cooler than maxtor 

just discovered something, seagate has the worst fitness. mine is on the edge of breakdown. 1 of it is constantly showing symptom of breaking down. based on the figures, both my seagates have lowest spin retry count and the most terrible seek retry rate. so stay away from seagate. they cannot handle to much stress as compared to maxtor and WD.

one more question, how come i cant find any lowyat shops selling hitachi hdd? its not too expensive compare to the other brands though. i'm refering to the price list at lowyat.net front page. low market demand, eh?

and er, what does "Perpendicular recording" mean? i guess seagate 7200.10 with NCQ means 16mb cache right. thanks again

as i know wd hdd also hav 5 yrs warranty 4 now

if u think its faulty..why dun u take it to RMA???
after tht u can stll use it or sell it with better price...

on the other hand i have some very bad experiences with seagate.

Anyone will do just depend on the luck more or less...

i have used Seagate, Maxtor, WD Samsung .....up to current i would prefer Samsung as it is so quiet compare to the others ...

of course the performance is up and down ....

I had four Seagate PATA HDDs failed on me prematurely, the fifth one was from my XBOX console. I had better luck with WD PATA & SATA HDDs, they lasted around 3-4 years. Up to my expectations to be honest.   

I'm not curious to try out Hitachi's SATA HDDs, everywhere is selling them now, it must be good I guess.

No offence but whenever I asked for a Samsung hardisk, the shops will tell me not to buy it because Samsung is not famous for making a hardisk, this and that. I wonder why they said that, profit margins not that good?

last time no sound. recently starts to make squeking noise even though at idle. i run diagnostics but the results says everything is fine. is it possible for the HDD to die at anytime?

if the HDD die, i plan to buy a 80GB SATA2 HDD. which brand is better? Samsung/WD/Seagate? must be quiet and fast one.
