EG9 - Stock fuel pump sufficient for track?

Hi guys...

Last Sunday went for an open track day at SIC. Before that I've upgraded/modded my EG9 quite a lot from engine, brakes, suspension, rims & tires. However, after doing about 5 laps, there's a feel like the throttle got no response as of there is no fuel supply. Then the engine will stalled. Try to start a few times but failed. So, need to tow by a SIC jeep to the pit.

After 20 minutes and the car getting colder, the engine can be started. Went back to the track, and after 6-7 laps, the problem came again. Engine dead and been tow back to the pit. Been told by my foremen that maybe its related to the fuel pump. Recommended to change to DC2R fuel pump. Is it true the above symptom is due to the fuel pump..... Hope u guys can shed some info/experience regarding my problem.

Thanks.

what is the symptom for faulty pump? this only happened last Sunday. Previously, everything seems to be okay for normal driving. or is it also related to fuel filter or maybe plug? i'm running 6 for my current plug.

not too sure... but ur case could also be other factors... like running 6-7 laps on high revs may be abit much for the engine...

Could be... Some more I'm using 4.785 Fd with y21 GB. Most of the RPM range from 5,500 - 8,800 RPM...

I tried a b18c with 4.785 FD with 9K rpm. damn nice!~
you sure it's fuel problem? misfiring also gives that same feel. Maybe coil/ignitor overheat and causes no start? Because usually most people have the small fuel pres meter at fuel rail, so can see if getting fuel or not. If you don't have, it's good to get one for insurance. Fuel pressure drop, means you got problems such as fuel leaks or faulty pump, another meter I wish included in cars is the oil pressure meter. At least can know when we're starving the engine of engine oil at the turns.

Serious? Last time I went to RCS, the owner said not worth it if I used stock bushes if I want to do corner weighting. They quoted me 300 per hour if I want to do it anyway. sweat.gif

Not to say it's expensive, but I better replace all my bushes (only the rear LCAs left) before I even think about it.

My rev cut is at 9K... Having 4.785 as ur FD sure feels that ur RPM climbing vey fast to the redzone..... Btw, my formen did install a fuel regulator at the fuel rail.... Pressure still there. Main suspect is still the pump. Dunno whether the pump is sufficient for my h22a injector with high comp engine. My current plug rated 6 may also contribute to heat very fast.

I bought a wrong set of high end brake pads.. not suitable for my own use..and its specific for Honda Civic 1988-2000 models, for the ones running 9.5" brake rotors up front. Basically the non B16 models..

anybody interested?

Which means, better ease off during the corners or risk engine ka-boom? tongue.gif

hmm. i dunno also, seems strange that got pressure but cannot start, since usually even if got pressure, sure can start (I remember push starting my car once, lucky got pressure at rail, or else, have to jumpstart since battery was totally flat.)

Well, hope that fuel pump solves your problem then.

I've been using rated 7 plugs since I got my car. Tried running 8s, but too cold for my car lol.

Added on June 29, 2012, 5:28 amfinally put on mount inserts by energy suspension. At driving speeds, no vibration, but at low rpms when the engine shudders, the chassis shudders along. ROFL. goodbye comfort!
