I am eyeing the upcoming civic too but I have seen some negative reviews which quite upset me :/

AC condition...??ok ah no prob but dont compare to those new car with bigger compressor la...and dont even think about why my air-cond not like genting that cold 1 ...in term of servicing no prob 1 boss...
FC wise...no prob depends on your foot to throttle it only ....

decide to buy the current civic rather than wait for the new 2012 civic, the new civic exterior really is a turn off.

I just went to see a few units of EJ, which are EJ6 & EJ8. Those are auto, with VTEC. Anyway, I have no clue whether it is D16 or B16 engine. Those I saw are black top VTEC.

My question is, how to differentiate between D16 and B16? Is there any available Civic B16 with VTEC and auto?

Another question, D16 is a SOHC engine I believe. So is it still important to have a VTEC? Will the VTEC make a lot of differences in the SOHC engine? If not much, then no matter VTEC or non-VTEC also not much difference in performance.

D series is SOHC and B are DOHC....is your call whether you want which for it...my friends D series auto....can feel the kicking pickup all in a sudden

all B series engines are twin cam engines aka DOHC

all D series are SOHC.

yes theres a difference between B16A Manual (170hp) and Auto (155hp)...diff cams...diff compression.. diff power

and seeing how ur looking into autos...i assume ur gonna use it as a daily driver and not into performance modifications...

if thats the case....i strongly suggest getting a D16.. the peak torque of the D series comes in much earlier at around 5-5.5k rpm as opposed to the B16A at 7.6k iirc... which is much better for daily driveability.

the B16A is also known as a torqueless wonder.

From what I see, D16 is quite common for sale in the market (for those not yet converted their engines). So for this D series, I checked the Wikipedia which is around 110hp only, just like ordinary 1.6 car. Is this engine recommended to get a VTEC version or non-VTEC version? Big difference between the two versions?
