Golf GTI is a great road car that can be used on the track.
FD2R is a great track car that can be used on normal roads.

stock for stock yes.
but straight line top end speed is useless.
just like muscle cars in america only good for straight line but thats okay cause their interstate are long straight highways.
in most other places and on the track the FD2R would edge is slightly most of the time.

Full tank can be between RM75-85.
Full tank mix use consumption can be > 500km

1. H20 in klang. You won't be able to get original and i don't recommend you get original because the suspension and spacing for FD1/FD2 vs FD2R is different. You will need spacers if you use original plus they are not cheap plus will get vibration, just get the cheaper replica's which are plug and play for FD1/FD2. Two color choices white (jp spec look), grey (uk spec look). Price depends on you going for 16"/17"/18" and what tires. If 18" the rims probably rm2000 and tires if good ones gonna be rm800 per piece.

2. GC in uptown, look for ah bee. FRP set selling cheap now including install and paint for rm1999!

Should be very soon they going to retire the FD series.
Word is Malaysia is being dumped with all the excess FD parts for CKD.
Thailand already change their production to newer model already for CBU/CKD/CKD Kit/parts.
So once HM finish their inventory it will be all new which could be sooner than later because of the flood last year alot of the inventory has been written off and they instead complete change over to new model.

Really depends if the newer model is a success or flop.
The 7th gen still can't hold its value compared to 6th gen civic.

IMHO the newer Korean cars look very sexy though not too sure about their performance, reliability, spares and resale value.
I'm very fortunate to have an FD which ticks all the boxes.

1. Firstly, two options.

Fiber sealant - will use fibre to seal up the holes, grind it down and apply primer before painting. Usually all the work will be done for the top part where the paint will stick to, the bottom part will be an ugly mess if you don't have boot cover.

Welding seal - will use small metal plates to cover the holes, depends on workmanship maybe they do for one side only which is the top part where the paint will stick to. if they use inferior metal to weld the cancer will spread to your good metal if it has rust.

2. Will cover-up but there will always be some gap and the holes are exposed metal so will rust unless you apply some anti-rust before putting the screws on if not the screws will be rusted in place.
