Should be very soon they going to retire the FD series.
Word is Malaysia is being dumped with all the excess FD parts for CKD.
Thailand already change their production to newer model already for CBU/CKD/CKD Kit/parts.
So once HM finish their inventory it will be all new which could be sooner than later because of the flood last year alot of the inventory has been written off and they instead complete change over to new model.
Really depends if the newer model is a success or flop.
The 7th gen still can't hold its value compared to 6th gen civic.
IMHO the newer Korean cars look very sexy though not too sure about their performance, reliability, spares and resale value.
I'm very fortunate to have an FD which ticks all the boxes.
Though now thinking of selling my 2009 FD for a GTI

1. Firstly, two options.

Fiber sealant - will use fibre to seal up the holes, grind it down and apply primer before painting. Usually all the work will be done for the top part where the paint will stick to, the bottom part will be an ugly mess if you don't have boot cover.

Welding seal - will use small metal plates to cover the holes, depends on workmanship maybe they do for one side only which is the top part where the paint will stick to. if they use inferior metal to weld the cancer will spread to your good metal if it has rust.

2. Will cover-up but there will always be some gap and the holes are exposed metal so will rust unless you apply some anti-rust before putting the screws on if not the screws will be rusted in place.

Coz im sure alot of the preve owners will think their car is some evo-like car coz it has a turbo...

But we also need to keep an eye too..the specs on paper is impressive...especially the torque..which b-series lacks

I'm not sure whether able to get a B series engine or not. Aiming for an auto unit(not sure is there any B series auto ), and will surely do the changes to all the fluids once I got the car. In that case probably I shall look into this model closely.

when u run the engine, all the oil goes all over the engine....of course la the oil sump level will be low

best to check is early morning....when all the oil has had time to go back down into the oil sump after a nice night of sleep

hey guys i wanna ask sumthing,i drive a civic ek sedan '99 with a d16a motor,but when turn air-cond my car felt loose abit pickup/sluggish and it took some time to get to 5.5k rpm to engage the vtec.need tuning or wut?

THanks for info~ My car aircond still cool(23/24celcious)...But the compressor keep regulate few seconds and cause the car lamp dimmer~ Is that same condition as ur car? (seem like high voltage consumed)

I just went to see a few units of EJ, which are EJ6 & EJ8. Those are auto, with VTEC. Anyway, I have no clue whether it is D16 or B16 engine. Those I saw are black top VTEC.

My question is, how to differentiate between D16 and B16? Is there any available Civic B16 with VTEC and auto?

Another question, D16 is a SOHC engine I believe. So is it still important to have a VTEC? Will the VTEC make a lot of differences in the SOHC engine? If not much, then no matter VTEC or non-VTEC also not much difference in performance.
