Hello.

Greetings from Estonia. New here and actually without Honor yet, but I have strong feeling, that I will get one ASAP to nbe my first Android (I didn't like the iPhone), as it have good specs and price too as as my old Nokia E51 is quite broken already. My main interest is using it for talking, emails, rss, web, no social stuff, no music, no games.

However few questions:

1) Screen - some say it's bad quality, from http://www.ubergizmo.com/2011/12/huawei-honor-review/

"Secondly, the LCD display contour is very visible and that’s something that high-end phones try to avoid as much as possible as it sends the subtle message that contrast may not be the highest."

Is this true or the latest items are better? And what about brightness and contrast and visibility?

2) Battery type - is it Li-Ion or Li-Po? And what is the charge time from 0-100%?

3) WiFi sensitivity - is it good? As when I tested Samsung Galaxy 5800, from one meter away from WiFi access point, it showed 80% and in second floor, where Nokia E51 shows 50% coverage, Samsung lost the connection at all.

It is not amoled plus or super lcd plus. So I think the screen is okay but not above average. I have been using it without complain. If you want to compare with the high-end phone then I think your aim is the high-end phone not this range of phone.
Yes, I know, it's not amoled. But what about these strange visible dots - http://www.androidpit.com/en/android/forum...or-display-dots

Does Your item have them?

If you are referring to the lines of small dots that looks like a grid across the screen then yes. I think its more like a screen design result like for touch screen thing.

Ok, I can live with that.

Seems that the only thing what makes a little bit worry, is the 512 MB RAM, that may be a bottleneck in the future, I think that ISC is the last suitable OS for Honor.

Hello. I´ve an issue in my Honour.
When I transfer files (only one big or a lot small files, it´s the same) from the
PC to the phone via USB in USB mode, it´s sloooooooow. Only reaches 1 MB/s.
My microSD card is a 16 Gigs with class 6 Samsung FAT32. The phone has
Gingerbread 2.3.6 original. Kernel 2.6.35.7-perf. If the transfer is reverse,
from the phone to the PC, it reaches 3 MB/s.

Do you have the same problem?

Greetings.

From review - http://www.ubergizmo.com/2011/12/huawei-honor-review/

"Slow USB file copy: for some reason, I found the USB file copy to be very slow. I tried to copy 421MB worth of media files for this test, and the copy speed was only 1.35MB/sec. It felt noticeably slower than with other smartphones or tablets."

2. The battery is Li-Ion not Li-Polymer. charge time don't really know. Maybe around 2 hours or so.
Well, I just got my item. No screen sticker or protector. And the battery is Li-Polymer.

If the battery is 1930 mAh, what car charger should I use? Logic say's that 2000 mAh output charges faster than 1000 mAh output. But the charger, which was included in the box, gives also output only 1000 mAh?

So should I buy 2000 mAh or 1000 mAh charger?

3. WiFi sensitivity, haven't test much on the strength vs. obstruction+distance comparison. Anybody got any input on this?
Well, now I can tell, that it's as bad as Samsung's:(

I must add extra wifi access point for phone.

Added on May 12, 2012, 3:06 pmBTW, where is the direct @ character in TouchPal keyboard? I found the one under numeric (12#) button > internet area. No shortcut? Why?

Edit: found shortcut under dot.

Don't worry, most other vendors don't plan to release ISC at all. So all we can do is sit and wait:).

Added on May 13, 2012, 12:50 pmI have problem with caller ringtone. I made a contacts group, set custom ringtone (mp3 from sdcard), but when groups users calls, the ringtone is still default. Then I did set custom ringtone directly to contact. Still default tone when contact is calling.

Why. mp3 ringtone should be supported? I tried also with built in ringtone, still no luck. Caller ID works. I have same numbers in SIM and in phone, but only the phone memory is selected to use.

How to fix it?

Edit: I think I found a workaround, I removed all contacts from SIM card and now the group ringtones are OK.

Hmm, when I install some apps from Market, then uninstall it later, it still stays in AppInstaller. How to remove apps from AppInstaller?

GB is super stable right now. Zero problem. Very tempted to upgrade but choose to hold it for a while at least until next year
*
Users are talking about different versions. Does it also matter when using default GB, for example I have non rooted, 2.6.35-7-perf Kernel and B873? Or GB have also different builds as I have read different rooting options for GB.

Mmm, I am still using the B865 that comes with the phone. Frankly I was really tempted to upgrade to a later version but hold off the decision. I glad I did that because later on I was alot of complaint here and there regarding the newer rom version. My phone is still non-rooted. I don't want to void my 2 years warranty yet. I also read different rooting option for few different rom version. I was also tempted to do it but hold myself against it. If you are game enough to experiment, by all means go head  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
Mine is also factory default version. But this still makes me wondering, that why GB have different build versions? What this build version shows? The country based settings? Or something else?

However using Settings > About Phone > Online upgrade, no soft-, or firmware update are available. Also www.huaweidevice.com > support > 8860 search, shows only:

HUAWEI_U8860 ICS 4.0 Cambodia Demo version
2012-04-01 Downloads 258.11MB
open source-kernel-3.0.8-U8860-IcecreamSandwich
2012-02-13 Downloads 117.78MB
HUAWEI_U8860_Android_2.3_V100R001C00B866SP01_Normal

So I wondering what new ROM's are users here talking about?

And about warranty, I understood, that after rooting is possible also restore phone to the factory status, if yes, then warranty is still active. And usually no software issues are covered with warranty, so I think warranty is for hardware only, so this root & warranty issue is very strange.

About battery.

Yesterday battery run out - phone turned OFF, so I connect the charger, at this morning, pressing the power button, 100% battery shows. Then I switched phone ON, phone booted up and shows 95% battery level, and all the time is charger still connected.

Strange?

Huawei Malaysia website just released new ICS ROM B929 few days ago. I've updated to this ROM.

So disappointed to find that this ROM has locked bootloader and locked pink screen.

I want to flash to MIUI but Im not stucked. ROM cant upgrade, cant downgrade, cant replace recovery.img, basically cant do anything.

Anyone got any idea?
