So I updated my S380 firmware by mistake to R0600, ended up with a cinivia set. Checking the net for firmware downgrade didn't find any solution.
I downloaded R0579 firmware, supposedly the last version without cinivia, created a CD and placed it into the player. As reported widely, downgrade is not possible. The player just proudly announced that it is "Already Updated".
I then downloaded R0615 firmware and used its ID file together with the R0579 firmware to create another CD. The player believed that it was R0615 and started the updating process. It progressed from 0/9 to 1/9 and then stayed there for a long while before skipping directly to 9/9, and happily declared that its firmware was updated to R0615.
But it wasn't. The firmware remained at R0600.
Now I am on my own again looking for another way to trick the player into performing a firmware downgrade.
