guys... have you guys tried out the voice command thingy? or even voice to text? i think it requires data/ internet connection. at times when i want to use it, i noticed it won't work at places where i have no data/ internet.

sorry... i meant the one that comes with sgs2... not about iphone.

i believe voice to text requires net access.

just sharing another 'puzzling thing' with sgs2...

well, for me anyway...

the brightness settings can be confusing. just like the volume. it can affect others apps in a weird way.

i normally set screen brightness to the lowest since its more than bright enough. however, when set to lowest, it will affect the stock camera apps. i totally can't see the camera apps screen under broad daylight.

if i set to auto, normal phone operations is still fine. but i believe the ambience sensor dun work during camera apps... i need to set the display brightness to max.

then there's the time when i use my stock browser. in the browser, there's the brightness settings as well... you set it to auto, you also change the settings on your display brightness back to auto... and then... it affects the rest...

*sigh*

so end up... before using camera under sun, i try to remember to set brightness to max. when at other times, i set to auto but it does make browsing unformfortable -- so sometimes have to set to manual brightness (say 40%)... at night, i try to remember to change brightness to lowest else when i browse, get blinded by the 40% brightness in a dark room...

saje use it for fun... can be quite accurate when doing voice for text -- when using general words. i was kinda surprised... but ya, the results can be erratic... sometimes totally out. but just for fun la when lazy to type.

plus, the mic icon so near the ENTER key on swype keyboard... so easy to accidentally press.

i think for mobiles, there's no such thing as future proof yet. it depends on the person as well... for me, i'm hoping my sgs2 will last me 5yrs... but the sifu here all seem to think it won't be practical for smartphone (this is my first smartphone).

as for playing the waiting game... at this rate things are being churned out... you'll be waiting forever... there's a new tegra chip launched every year... doubling in speed. do google the timeline. the next one is due sometime now or end 2011... so, again... more powerful phones, etc...

funny thing... processor technology improves but battery technology... still long way to go.

to me... if sgs2 meets your requirements (play with it at shop, etc), then just get it!

you can start with GLU games. i believe all GLU games ask for this.

some glu games -- bug village, gun bros, eternal warriors...

i just mentioned a post earlier, i think... personally... no such thing as good time or not. but in terms of prices, its dropped a bit since it was first launched. the speed tech is evolving... there's just a new and more powerful phone everyday (ok, its like every few months). but having said that... i'm surprised sgs2 is still the *best* android phone around. more than 6mths old and there's no solid replacement. this is amazing considering that before that, the 'best' phone held the title for only 2-3 mths...

as for good or not good... if now all you can find is the G version, no choice, right? i dun think samsung would have done any drastic changes to the point where their reputation suffers...

Added on October 5, 2011, 1:43 pmfor me... its not really abt battery drain (though logically, it will drain a bit). it's more to do with why they need this... i just can't see why? clock counters? i'm sure there's some programming method to 'cheat'. there's no need to run real time clock counter, right?

from desire and sgs2... i won't really say its a major/ huge upgrade. well, someone just shared the details of jusco sales... but i din do the calculation... not sure if its worth it. but if buy with credit card, get credit card points... then you get jusco vouchers... and with credit card, i think some let you convert it to installment plans...

but if you plan to get from digi... ya, then its just smart plan + phone.

with digi... i dun think they have adjusted the price for sgs2 yet. i read on soyacincau that they have revised the package for sensation. so, if price is not revised... the discount is not so much anymore la... but still, need a plan, so... a bit of discount is still better than none. if your usage is below 1GB, get the rm48 plan. i think its a better deal.

as for the butterfly launched that i'm using... i think its screwing with my calender/ agenda widget. sometimes the widget just dies -- blank widget with no date, no entry, etc...

quite sure its the launcher causing it coz previously using the stock launcher, never encountered such thing before.

worst case... 3-4hrs and its flat... that's proably coz using 3g data... playing games, etc... it depends a lot of usage and so very subjective.

i have a fren who is not on 3g plan. so phone used only with wifi. he says the phone batt lasts 2.5 days. for me... i'm catagorised by forumers here as heavy user -- 30mins refresh for tweetdeck (and now using uber social). there's news reader, there's gaming... emails... lasts abt 8-10hrs. basically enough to last the day at work.

nowadays, i stretched the refresh duration (so i dun become heavy user) and charge the phone all the time.

whoa... din know we could do that...
