Got it! SETTINGS>APPLICATIONS>DEVELOPMENT

I couldn't access to my smartphone. It pop out...

ATTENTION

USB is connected. Remove the cable.

I press OK button but the USB debugging tick box is not "ticked". I thought of arranging some of my files in the SGS2...Sigh.

Hi Joey,
It is in Setting-Application-Development-USB debugging? Have to remove the usb cable from the phone first. I personally seldom use this for file transfer.

Alternatively, go Setting-Wireless and Network-USB utilities-Connect Storage to PC

or use KIES but slow, buggy and cranky. It works when it worked.

If transferring movie from one S2 to another S2, better to use Direct WiFi. Super super fast.
Setting-Wireless and Network-Wifi Direct settings. Just like bluetooth, needs to pair.
Read: http://androidadvices.com/galaxy-s2-wifi-d...-data-transfer/

Hope this can help and Enjoy the great weekend.
Thank you for very informative piece. I was scratching my head when it didn't go right. The micro USB data cable SHOULD NOT BE PLUGGED IN before you tick the box for USB Debugging. It should be plugged after that. LOLZ! Learnt something new yesterday.

Thanks for the elaborate tip.

A quickie...I already plugged in the micro USB cable to my SGS2. However, it couldn't detect by my computer. What could be the problem? It prompted me to have the CD installation or something...

I managed to get it "detected" without knowing how because it happens to be connected. Sigh...This is supposed to be plug and play, right?

I've gone through SETTINGS>APPLICATION>DEVELOPMENT

SGS2 is still grasp-able. But the Samsung's Note is a little tad bigger and those small mittens would have a hard time holding it. LOLZ! 5.3" of Super AMOLED screen! Watching video on it would be a God-sent.

Do you guys think the new voice-controlled Siri personal assistant on the iPhone4s is almost the same as the one featured on our SGS2 whereby we just say "Hi, Galaxy"?

I think it is similar but i also think all these voice control are gimmicks to attract people. Most of it are useless as they are not accurate. In the end use your finger alot faster and less frustrating.  tongue.gif
For calls and texts, it's a bit gibberish since I got quite a number of friends with Chinese name. If it's English names, it turned out better. For Google search, I just click the "microphone" icon on the right and just say whatever you wanted to search via Google and I'd say it's 95% accurate and it directs the one that I've wanted/spoken.

Tried it a few times out of curiousity and it works! By the way, still bogged down by the Kies thing. Android SDK and AVD Manager on it's way...

Sorry if I sound stupid to ask this, but is it fine to charge your phone at night and leave it on till morning?
I always charge around 12 and only unplug in the morning, afaik there's a smart circuit that cuts of the current when battery is fully charged?
Been doing so from the day I purchased the phone. These days, the charger and the battery are smart enough to have its' own "way of working". It's pretty much so for an auto that uses caburetor or fuel injection. Time has changed and so do technology.

i always leave my desire charge overnite since last year, now still ok. no problem to charge overnite coz it have auto-cut circuit.
Most mobile phone chargers are not really chargers, only power adapters that provide a power source for the charging circuitry which is almost always contained within the mobile phone.[15] They are notoriously diverse, having a wide variety of DC connector-styles and voltages, most of which are not compatible with other manufacturers' phones or even different models of phones from a single manufacturer.

Users of publicly accessible charging kiosks must be able to cross-reference connectors with device brands/models and individual charge parameters and thus ensure delivery of the correct charge for their mobile device. A database-driven system is one solution, and is being incorporated into some designs of charging kiosks.

Mobile phones can usually accept a relatively wide range of voltages[citation needed], as long as it is sufficiently above the phone battery's voltage. However, if the voltage is too high, it can damage the phone. Mostly, the voltage is 5 volts or slightly higher, but it can sometimes vary up to 12 volts when the power source is not loaded.

There are also human-powered chargers sold on the market, which typically consists of a dynamo powered by a hand crank and extension cords. There are also solar chargers.

China and other countries are making a national standard on mobile phone chargers using the USB standard.[16] in June 2009, 10 of the world's largest mobile phone manufacturers signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop specifications for and support a microUSB-equipped common External Power Supply (EPS) for all data-enabled mobile phones sold in the EU.[17][18] On October 22, 2009, the International Telecommunication Union announced a standard for a universal charger for mobile handsets (Micro-USB).[19]

im thinking to get this phone but should i wait for samsung nexus prime?
The design for Nexus Prime is also different. If I'm not mistaken, the SGS2 back is flatbed while the Nexus Prime is curvaceous just like the Son Ericsson Arc. I could be wrong here.

In addition, I believe the NiCd "memory" issue still plaguing us until today...However, our SGS2 is not utilising NiCd as it's battery. It uses Lithium-Ion type battery, right?

Lithium-Ion: Lithium seems an ideal material for a battery: it is the lightest metal in addition to having the highest electric potential of all metals. Unfortunately, lithium is an unstable metal, so batteries that use lithium must be made using lithium ions (such as lithium-thionyl chloride). Even so, dangers persist with lithium-ion batteries. Many of the inorganic components of the battery and its casing are destroyed by the lithium ions and, on contact with water, lithium will react to create hydrogen which can ignite or can create excess pressure in the cell. If the lithium melts (melting point is 180 C), it may come into direct contact with the cathode, causing violent chemical reactions. As a consequence, lithium batteries are often limited to small sizes. Portable devices, such as notebook computers, smart cards, and cellular telephones, are often powered by lithium ion batteries. These batteries have no memory effect and do not use poisonous metals, such as lead, mercury or cadmium.

wanna ask why some customer got 18 month warranty and 12 month warranty but all stated from samsung malaysia ???
It could be the agreed packages that they are offering. From sole proprietary outlets to authorised Samsung dealers to whatever there is out there. Mine has 18-month warranty. What I last heard from SenQ/Seng Heng, they are giving away 36-month warranty (1 year from Samsung, 2 years from SenQ/Seng Heng).

I was told the salesperson that even though the warranty stretches from one year to three years, it could be services warranty given and not the product warranty. Well, you know how those terms and conditions work, right?

you sure there are still phones using NiCd? ohmy.gif thats quite old and i dont think its suitable to use on a phone
Hmmm...technology will exist and would be brought forward from year to year (given the fact that they are not thrown or buried at the waste land). We are welcoming the age of light-ness and Lithium-Ion is the answer. With weight being an issue to be taken into account, it wouldn't be of a surprise that good bye to NiCd and welcome to Litium-Ion batteries.

Besides smartphone or whatever mobile there is in the market, NiCd batteries are still out there in the market.

A tip for SGS2 user: Scroll the notification bar and press whatever there is for USB connection. I tried a few times earlier but couldn't get it connected even though under SETTINGS>APPLICATIONS>DEVELOPMENT.

I left out what's being posted at the front/first page (by benny888) that you need to press, erm..."USB Connect" to complete the plug and play.

By the way, my PlayStation®3 can detect my SGS2. There's another forummer that said his SGS2 could be detected on his XBox 360 also. So, there you have it, the two confirmed consoles that the SGS2 could be plugged in to perform some video, photograph transfers.

What we are looking in the future? 28nm 64-Core Epiphany-IV microprocessor chip?

Adapteva, a privately-held semiconductor technology start up, today announced the release of the fourth generation of its Epiphany multicore architecture IP – a 28nm design with 64 independent high-performance RISC cores on a single chip. The latest generation of the Epiphany architecture offers the highest energy efficiency of any floating point processor solution to date, with a ground-breaking 70 GFLOPS/Watt.

Would it creep into mobiles by next year? Samsung is going to incorporate that mean little power house chip, right?

user posted image

Excerpt: The chip, called Epiphany-IV, won’t replace your phone’s main SoC, but would allow that chip to offload processing requests to it. Just as a normal multi-core SoC can activate additional cores on-demand, a phone using an Epiphany-IV could pass it tasks to tackle on an as-needed basis. All those 64 cores can run at up to 800MHz, resulting in the raw number-crunching power of about 45 Apple A5 chips.

A fair square on with the screen size between Samsung's Galaxy S II and Apple's iPhone4s? A fellow posted this on an iPhone thread in this forum. Everyone was hoping for a larger screen on the next iPhone installment but when it came out as the same size as the iPhone4...

For the philosophy of the Apple iPhone is a terminal which must be able to use even with one hand , while the iPad is the one for which we require 2 hands.Apple conducts numerous studies on issues, such as the display, which may seem unnecessary to most. This is why Jobs has always said that the tablet smaller than 9 "are neither fish nor fowl, and so unpleasant to use.
This leads one to think that it is not said that we will never see an iPhone more than 3.5 ", unless they produce more than one, or the  new CEO , with the disappearance of SJ, changing marketing strategies. Usually, however, are the others to follow Apple, and not the other way.
Seriously, I would want to see how it goes for Apple's iPhone series. We'll just see who has the last laugh.
