Guys  any of you encounter sudden restart? happened to me twice this day. what is the problem? using litening rom btw
*
some custom roms have undervolt kernels...

try flashing back a stock rom and see if it happens again..

sometimes some kernels by default aren't tampered with...read the changelogs

U using the kernel that came with the litening rom? That kernel give me autoreboot issues due to auto uv too. install setcpu and set voltages to default
*
Nope. Using Siyah kernel. I've also moved off from Lite'Ning. Using the latest Touch X.

Added on October 2, 2011, 7:40 pmjust curious, anyone here overclocks their device? any reviews or rants about overclocking?

hi everyone,
my s2 android version is 2.3.3.
is it possible to upgrade it without flashing rom or root ?
normally how do you all upgrade it?
using Kies?

follow the instructions in the front page. THere's a good guide on how to get 2.3.4. it requires a reflash but does not require root access..

Eiraku

I know you're one of the few who jumped time the s2 from the N900.

So, overclockedyour s2 yet? I personally don't see the need to pump more juice into the device seeing it's already quite powerful enough.... but seeing my glu games running like butter really is tempting... pumped it up to 1.6ghz and will see how long before the battery dies on me... haha

For some unknown reason, no, I haven't. I UNDERclock and UNDERvolt (I'm running 200-1000 most times, with -75mv UV across the board), but I've never gone over. Never really felt the need to lol.

Even with my N900 I was conservative what, always running 500-900, never really breaking 1k (because back then the A8 needed the extra push to begin with lol).

Alright guys, I-Day tomorrow (actually, Wed our time). And 8 more days to N-Day. It's a wonderful time to be alive in Gadgetland.

shocking.gif hmmm... surprised.. but the undervolting is quite common. Tried finding the voltage tables online but there doesn't seem to be one like how Jakiman and TMO used to have... I'd much prefer to refer to these tables before doing minor tweaks of voltages on my own...

I ran my n900 with 1000-1000 most of the time except when i was charging or when i was going to leave it idle for a long time. Surprisingly, battery life was not really THAT big a problem..

hopefully i can run the same with this baby

Added on October 3, 2011, 9:06 amJust to share:

Using Touch X-TREME XWKI4 ROM with Siyah v1.7.4

Voltages I'm using:

1600MHz - 1375mV
1400MHz - 1275mV
1200MHz - 1175mV
1000MHz - 1075mV
800MHZ - 1050mV
500MHz - 875mV
200MHz/100MHz - 850mV

so far, everything is stable... will try to undervolt a little bit more and see if it still is stable

Wow... that announcement was surely.... ummmm.... not what the iPhone 5 hype was all about. Hhaha...

Added on October 5, 2011, 8:32 amThe one thing I was looking forward to was the hype that it would get a larger screen. Cause I know one of the most important factors of the OS being buttery smooth is it doesn't have to accommodate to many screen form factors. Across all generations, it has was always been 3.5 and that is easy to write programmes for. I was thinking maybe they'll introduce something else that would make the transition of all the previous programmes to fit the supposed 'new' bigger screen

Hey guys, I tried opening the gallery and wanted to edit a picture from the gallery. It froze for a few seconds and forced close. I can do anything else with the picture shy of editing it.

What could be causing it? Rom? Kernel?
I'm on touch extreme xwki4 and ninpo 2.1.3.

Just wondering

Using the Touch X-TREME XWKI4 1.0

but the baseband version in ABOUT PHONE is still XXKI1

Will it matter that it's not the same as in one is XW and the other XX?

should i flash the Touch X-TREME XXKI3 instead? or it really doesn't matter... i know it's just the region... but logically, i think it should match up right?

Are you UVing or using 100mhz? What governor your using?
*
I'm undervolting but barely. I'm trying to undervolt with ninpo now and see if the results are the same. But as I can remember, ninpo was just fine before. If it shows the same, I'll revert to default voltages.

Not using 100MHz. I don't really see any real difference between the governors.I'm sure there is a difference slightly but not noticeable to me.

Hi Bro, I just flash to Syiah from speedfrey.
No force close even even I didn't wipe anything.
*
I didn't get forced closes immediately after flashing it. After 2-3 days then it shows signs of freezing... I undervolt too... that could be another issue too but I don't go way low... just a Tad lower than the default voltages

Using touch xpower XWKI4 rom. Maybe its compatibility issue... I'm running ninpo fine now... we'll see how it goes. I'll revert to siyah every now and then when it is updated cause ninpo is still at 2.1.3.... which is quite a while already..

Eiraku
True. I kinda fancied siyah too.if it weren't for this forced close issues, I'd have stuck to it

Dear girlfriend dropped my phone...

Small scratch At the bottom right of the chrome lining of the phone. She looked so scared... Hahaha...

I was just OK but she looked so freaked out. I was just checking if the phone was still fine but she looked more worried than me.

Dear dear..

I can understand why you are asking about all the cons about this phone. It's a huge investment. I don't blame you.. really.

I was like that in the beginning.

If I were to purposely try to bring up some cons, it would be:

1. Camera not the best there is. It's not to say that this camera is lousy, but I've seen better pictures coming out from other phones with the same or less price range. Examples: the king of camera phones N8, and dare I say, better stills on the iPhone in low lighting conditions.

2. Overheating. All purely because of its super awesome and crazily fast processor, thin back which means you directly feel the running CPU heat unlike slightly thicker phones which don't get such direct contact. For me, I don't give a crap about it cause coming from the n900, overheating is normal to me.

but really.... these are just me PURPOSELY trying my utter best to dish out some cons for to you. If it matters, like for me, I'd have preferred a hardware keyboard like my previous phone, it's not fair to compare a full touch phone with one that has a hardware keyboard... so compared to other candybars, the screen provides a lot of real-estate to thumb-type easily...

The screen is gorgeous!!! Major attraction for me. Don't get us started with what we like about the phone though... hhahaha,

All phones won't last too long when it comes to being the flagship phone or being the best phone there is. The life cycle of phones being that is getting faster and a shorter... one year I more than you can ask for before some fella comes up with something that completely blows the previous generations away...

Don't try to keep up though.... unless you're loaded.. hahaha
