Okay, in between all this bashing I wanna add some stuff I'm finding out about CM7.
The Good:
1. Haptics in everything - VKB, linkies, menu items. THIS IS HOW IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE SAMMY. Batt guzzler for sure, but it's customizable anyway.
2. Crazy system customizations - Theme picker, CM settings... customizable like heck weh. Plus the long press volume hack is built in. Hurrah.
3. Everything feels crazy smooth - Especially with Syiah 2.0 kernel. No lag no nothing.
4. 2G/3G switch - very useful, can be setup through tasker too.
5. Screen colour - actually looks nice w/o Mdinie tweaking.
6. Built in CPU management - no UV/OC, but is serviceable.
The Bad:
1. No touch focus in cam - sad really, but third party apps make up for the loss.
2. Limited kernel choices - So, stock CM7 or Siyah 2.0. Lol.
3. Some software incompatibilities - Kaiten just FCed on me. Sigh.
4. No smart dial in dialer - Ugh, this one is arguably not essential in the grand scheme of things, but I NEED it.
5. No REAL orange-black themes - One semi orange, and one neon orange, yes, but not the shade of orange I was looking for.
The Ugly:
1. The fonts - MY EYES MY EYES OH MY GOD! But seriously, even coming from Samsung's "sub-par" text rendering, everything just looks horribly, horribly wrong. Even more so because it's not running my favourite Ubuntu Titling Bold ExSmall.
So, how has the experience been so far? Entertaining, although I'm going back to VR2.4.2 + Ninpo 2.0.5 because however customizable CM7 is, right now it's not really that much "better" then modded stock. Leaner, yes, but some the "stuff" Samsung dumped into the stock ROM is ACTUALLY quite useful (smart dialing, touch to focus... to name a few).
All things considered, anyway.
Maybe next time, CM. Once you sorted out that font hinting thing and touch to focus. Or maybe I should try one of those CM7 hybrids running the Samsung Framework.
