Damn irritating blue side overscroll effect!!! 2.3.5
*
QUOTE(antt00 @ Oct 4 2011, 03:56 PM)
Yay overscroll blue.  icon_rolleyes.gif  On touch rom its partly white. Anyway i am not really bothered by it cos i had something similar on cm7 rom in my previous device. Sort of use to it.
*
Is that effect added in 2.3.5? If yes then it's really weird coz i don't have it. Still bouncing, G set though.

After rooting there will be a yellow triangle on boot screen, so if i wanna send back for warranty i just flash back the stock kernel? Are those guys in service centre able to tell whether i flashed my device before or not?

g version solve the pink spot issue? laugh.gif
*
Afaik there's no pink spot issue on G set. But we do have a serious bug/hardware defect with the proximity sensor which turns on randomly. And hell yes it's draining battery.

Interesting, anyhows, G root should come soon enough, and really, ROMs all don't really matter much, you only really NEED root and TB.

I'm still contemplating whether to flash my phone now or not. Do I follow the exact steps in page 1 and use the correct kernel file?

if it's just for rooting, either is okay. preferably use the 1 which is latest than your phone's firmware version. if not, use the closest
*
I'm on KI1 stock rom, so should I use KI1 kernel? Not sure how KH4 performs though coz i updated to KI1 on the first day.

these insecure kernels are made to be almost identical as the stock kernel, except they add CWM and remove the security for you to be able to root. no significant difference other than that. so dont worry about the performance. just use the 1 with the same as your phone.
*
What i meant was if KH4 performs better than KI1 then i might flash my device back to KH4 stock rom and use the KH4 kernel. Anyway, Do i have to disable kies completely? I see some guides saying that u need to install kies.

Is it okay? After rooting the phone can I flash back the stock kernel to remove the yellow triangle?

Insecure kernel is now available http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1101671

Make sure its for g version. Flashing other kernel may soft brick your device.

I only see a zimage file in the KI1 zip, why is that? shouldn't it be a tar file?

Unless your phone is a G version, better root using CF-root at Chainfire thread. Odia kernel didn't give you superuser and CWM.
*
Yes i'm using a G version.

I wonder if you can use CWM manager to flash the zimage without CWM installed.  hmm.gif

But i'm planning to follow this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125414

In this case how do I do it with the zimage file?

You mean you want to be able to type in chinese? If you use the latest firmware from Samsung, it already comes with chinese language typing support. Just click on the language button at the bottom of the keyboard. At least mine is like that lar. Mine is I9100 + KI2  firmware.

Not sure about the I9100G + KI1 firmwares though.

We have chinese input by default. no update required smile.gif
