New begineer here, i started last year.. i bought 1 oz of ASE and Maple for starter.. that time the spot price is the lowest.. plus with the help of this LGS group manage to get it in a very low price. now slowly i try to top up 1oz per month.. hehe.. its slow but i'm looking for a long term investment.. to me if you want to earn fast money from silver, its kinda difficult, except, you are big player.. buying thousand oz of 1 oz coin, then try to sell it during high spot price.. maye you can earn 5-10 per oz. ahahah.. for me its long term.. =) just to fight the inflation (hopefully).

it's a great start! look at it at the long term. just like wine, the more matured it is, the more value it has!

all the best in your silver investment.

I working in singapore. Can ship to singapore ? i think postage expensive.

Crossing border to Singapore is not wise. It is subject to export tax. Also, in Singapore, you may need to pay GST for it.

Yea, silver rounds have higher premium... But the resale should be, nicer?

I've around RM700 and I have nothing to do with it, so planning to buy silver. I ever think of buying few rounds because they look nice. HAHA! But I think I will go for bars first, or maybe mixture of bars and some rounds.
*
You can read my blog on this: Silver Bullion Investor vs Silver Collector

For a start, RM700 should buy you a few bars and coins. Mix it up and buy 1-2 bars, 1-2 coins to get the touch & feel of it!

Another note, try not to mix up the term. Rounds refer to silver bullion in round-shape, without any legal tender. Eg the buffalo, scottssale 1/2 round and scottssale omnia round. Coins refer to silver bullion with legal tender, eg. Maples, Eagles and Pandas smile.gif

When I first started, I bought the whole lot. From 1oz to 10oz to 1kgs, from bars to coins to everything. Thus, I run a store now. Haha laugh.gif

Any silver coins with a monetary value on it is silver coins with legal tender.

Example, Canadian maples has 5 dollars Canadian dollars on it. Eagles has 1 US dollar on it. Even our Kijang Emas 1oz, has RM200 on it. These are legal tender backed by the government of issue. You can legally use 1 dollar American Eagle to buy 1 can of coca cola in the street of US. The only thing is, the metal value are worth more that the figure stamped onto the coins. Nobody with a sane mind would do that biggrin.gif

have to disagree here

Here is my take on rare item vs high premium mass silver vs low premium mass silver silver investment

Rare Item: Numismatic coins, collector coins, limited edition coins (keyword: limited in production quantity)

High Premium: More expensive to buy per Oz. Mass produced. Internationally branded and well recognized.
Examples: Generally any 999 silver coin (America Silver Eagle, Pamp Sussie Bar)

Low Premium: Cheapest way to buy silver, mass produced with little/no artistic value
Examples: Any silver bar, any silver round (1kg bar from Public Gold)

Washing Machines
Not what you are thinking, so please don’t start taking apart your old washing machine looking for silver. The silver we are talking about is in the new Samsung washing machines that inject silver ions into the rinse cycle in order to kill 99.9% of bacteria that causes odors. By using about 1 ounce of silver, these Samsung washing machines can sanitize over 3,000 loads, this means no hot water or bleach necessary, just a dash of silver.

Talking about Washing Machines, I just blogged about it not so long ago: http://investsilvermalaysia.com/washing-ma...5-silver-plate/ laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

I was just wondering if a silver bar with a serial number on it will carry a significant premium though? I know that the PAMP bars do but what about other bars like engelhard, J&M etc. Thoughts anyone?
*
Engelhard and J&M are no longer in production and are considered as the grand daddy of silver bars. it has added "vintage" value onto it. PAMP are nicknamed the "Royce Rolls" of precious metals be it Gold or Silver.

I believe the tax will only be applied to legal tender coins not for bars and rounds, no?
*
Yes. You are correct. Coins with any legal tender by any government on it will be taxed 15%. Silver bars and rounds are all non-taxable.

All the best in your silver investment.
