can anyone tell me the advantages of s. steel cooktops over glass ones? cuz it seemed to me that when i go over the prices, steel ones are a tad more expensive than glass ones, given the same burner specifications.
many thanks in advance!!

I think it's more of the look of it. I bought the glass cooktop from Fotile. I was also contemplating on which to choose..coz i love stainless steel. I was told by the sales person that the stainless steel..if scratched..it will be more noticeable. For glass...just be careful not to drop any heavy things on it.

i'm also hooked on cold stainless steel look. and it goes well wit my glossy black backsplash. hehehe...
finally decided on glass electrolux egg7222sx. got two strips of stainless steel on top and bottom. hahaha... win-win.
was talking to few shops, asking about s. steel. most of them say steel easily scratched and oil hard to remove. need to polish to maintain shine. glass easy maintenance. not easy to break apparently.

Yup, stainless steel hobs get scratched easily. Glass on the other hand is ezier to maintain. Glass hobs are also very durable and will not break easily but not all brands are equally durable.
Here is an example of how durable Fotile hobs are.
