After some time shoot digital, I tried shoot street with film again. Wah!! Digital so easy, point and shoot. everything auto. Film have to think what ISO. Once put in thats it for the next 36 shots. If too low, cannot shoot low light. Too high, day time may run out of shutter speed. My focusing too slow. By the time I focus, most people turn away, see me already, dowan their face in lowyat.  doh.gif

Nice experience when chaning to film, make you really appreciate the picture you take, not shoot shoot shoot then delete delete delete...
i also had problem with slow focusing, but then learn the hyperfocal scale on your manual lens, then things get easy!
normally i shot at F4, and normally the image is sharp from 3meter and beyond on a 50mm lens
try read this article out, see if help you or not..cheers!

With my digital, I can shoot day time ,then night time with same setup, very flexible. With film, I need to buy ND filter, or the Nokton 1.1  biggrin.gif .

is true that digital photography bring us ease in photography, but film slows you down to an extend that you really focus on your picture framing moment instead of fumbling around the menus...
correct me if i am wrong, why cant film shoot at night? even you have the nokton 1.1, if you cant master you film, is quite no point for you to have the nokton there

in film, bring what you have learn about in digital photography into film, much simpler to set your shooting exposure such as aperture and shutter
load a roll of film and try out, for every shot, wrote down your shooting condition, you learn better that way...cheers! icon_rolleyes.gif

bro, at day time, iso 1600 film is way too much but you able to drop down aperture value to F5.6 or even F8! which is quite depth of your DOF, make prefocusing even more ease! normally i use iso400 film and no problem during day time and nite time
plus you testing your shutter speed with canon S100 is not really accurate as the sensor size play a big issue to light exposure even you set both camera to the same aperture, bigger sensor allow more light to hit and bigger the lens aperture (comparing your S100 F2 aperture size with FF 50mm lens at F2 apeture)
in digital, some would just AUTO its ISO, but how bout the noise level that your camera can handle, try to set a fixed ISO and shoot and see
