As a lot of people complained that online hotel room booking done on weekends would be processed on Monday thus missing the 5% cash back for Maybankard 2 Amex, I purposely booked a hotel room online on Friday using my SCB JustOne (which gives 5% cash back on Friday). However, the statement shows the booking was done on Monday and I missed the 5% cash back.

@winner
Probably ... we need people to start talking about their actual transactions with hotel bookings as well (Website, actual transaction date and time) so that all of us could benefit and plan for best time to do hotel bookings.

I believe many of us (including myself) do quite a fair bit of hotel bookings online.

Just to get the ball rolling

Website : Agoda.com
Transaction Date & Time : 28th Sept 2011, 7.05am
Transaction Posted on  : To be updated (Based on M2U info)
Card Used : MBB AMEX
Currency transacted : MYR (Sometimes other website will use USD or local currency and then converted to MYR. This info optional coz this may provide forex info and redundant coz we got an existing cc forex comparison thread)

I suggest that a new thread "Online Hotel Bookings via Credit Card" be created. Please come out with a format that everyone could follow. You are nominated and the best person to create this thread.

why dont you start creating the thread?

I am not able to be online as frequent as you guys. And "hye" being a mod who does online bookings frequently is the best person to create the thread. I look forward to the new thread.

this is because:

1. me and my wife both applied for principal card. so we can get rm100/month thumbup.gif
2. last month i redeemed rm400 shopping vouchers, while my wife redeem rm200 shopping vouchers + 4x nandos vouchers.

so the cashback + voucher value is already rm1k thumbup.gif

Generally vouchers redemption cannot be taken into account in your case, as the more you spend, the more points you get. After all, they are still your hard-earned points and money.

By the way, i used my MBB2 AMEX to pay for my tickets on Dragonair on 14th Jan 2012 (Saturday) around 1am and it was posted to my account just two days ago. The transaction date is recorded as 13th Jan 2012 even though it was already 14th Jan 2012, much to my dismay as i was hoping to reach my 5% weekend rebate in just one use  vmad.gif  vmad.gif

That's strange. Hong Kong is the same time as Malaysia. By the way did you book your tickets in Malaysia?

By the way, i just found out that Cathay Pacific (since 1998) and Dragonair (since 2007) are using the global payment and electronic services from JPMorgan which probably is the reason why transaction made in the midnight is still recorded as transaction made on the previous day. But still, if the payment is processed by JPMorgan office in Hong Kong, they should just follow the Hong Kong's time!  vmad.gif

I guess the transaction must be processed through the JPMorgan HQ in US, just like what happened to all my transactions with PayPal. Next time you could try booking tickets on Saturday evening or Sunday.

no, you dont. Visa/MC only gives you 5x treatpoints.

Since when does Maybankard 2 Visa or MC give 5x TPs for purchases? Not even for overseas transactions or purchases during weekend.

It only gives x1 TP for all transactions.
