Hi guys,

I remember seeing some where in this forum that using AMEX overseas is a no no because of the high service/bank fees. How much is the service/bank fees? 3.5%?

Thanks.

When you swipe for petrol, the bank will reduce your CL by RM200 regardless of the amount. The real amount will only be reflected when the station operator post the transactions. All cards, all petrols.

^ thanks for the clarification. I was refering to the swipes at the counter. Slightly OT, but can you provide some examples on which other banks/merchants differ in amount? Could be a useful info.

You can actually set the sms alert notification for SCB from their online banking system. I set SMS and email notification for mine, amount above RM100.

We need to find out whether sending payment as personal gift from a malaysian account to another malaysian account in RM has any charges to either party.

1) u can't send RM through AMEX
2) sending payments to malaysia registered paypal acc only can be done in RM
3) the recipient has to pay a receiving fee, couple with high amex forex charges, means the 5% is gone
4) keep sending personal payments to the same acc and paypal will investigate

i would have done it long time ago if it's worth while, i had both malaysian and US paypal accounts

awww...too bad. No loophole biggrin.gif

The bank autodebit your account every month.
The cardholder autopay the bill every month.
See the difference ?  blush.gif

You may subscribe autopay with bank or with telco. However I would prefer to deal with bank. Just one call, can cancel all autopay, no need to call every telco/utilities one by one.
*
Dealing with bank directly refers to the first one, autodebit our account every month?

For a gold to platinum upgrade, can the holder still keep the old card without terminating or closing the old one? Any previous case reported here before?

It was stated in v1 that maximum entitlement is only RM50 cashback even if you own both, but in product disclosure: capped at RM50 per month per account.
