i always face problem when using my Amex at Tangs
no matter it is pavillion outlet or Empire Mall one
*
When swiping your AMEX at TANGS, the cashier need to key in the 4-digit CID on the front of your AMEX.
This shows the cashiers are not familiar/not trained enough.

What terminal are TANGS using? Why need to key in the 4-digit CID?
*
If memory recall is excellent, they use Citibank EDC terminal.
Sometimes it's based on how the EDC is configured by the vendor.

The CIMB EDC at Petronas (Jalan Klang Lama) also need 4-digit CID of the AMEX.

This is something new to me. So far I haven't encounter such circumstance before.

Maybe you have not visited the location which requires the 4-digit CID

I assume your card has "chip" right? By right the 4-digit are already embedded into the chip so if the cashier use the chip (aka insert card) then it will not need to key-in.
However if your card's chip got problem and cashier has to swipe (aka fallback using magnetic strip) then 4-digit is required.

I suggest u try few more places and observe what the cashier doing..Or ask for card replacement.
*
For sure if it's not my smart chip problem, it's the EDC terminal problem, right ?
I'm not the only one needed to key-in the CID. Other forummers also confirm requiring the CID at selected EDC terminals.

I'm planning to use Maybankard2 AMEX at AirAsia website tonight. Earn 5X TP but lose RM10 to AirAsia's Convenience charges vmad.gif
Do I need to pre-inform the Maybank Customer Service to use my AMEX on AA's booking ?

I know there's CC charge on AirAsia... that's not the original question.

It's RM5 Per Way Per Pax
Each person will need to pay RM10

I called the Maybankard CS and they told generally there should be issues booking with AA using AMEX. Just a precaution, she asked for details on when the transaction will take place and approx amount to be charged... let's hope all goes well.
