Maybank debit card is better if you are going to use it for overseas purchases as Maybank debit/credit card is known to give a very favourable exchange rate. Do note that there will be 0.5% admin fee for all transactions made in foreign currency. For Public Bank D2D VISA, the admin fee charged is 1%.

If you go for Maybank, i'd suggest you to specifically request for the Maybankard Manchester United VISA debit cardas this card gives you 1x Treatpoint for every RM2 charged to your card whereas the regular Maybankard Cherry VISA debit card gives you 1x Treatpoint for every RM3. Treatpoint is something like Bonuslink where you accumulate points to certain amount before you can redeem for a gift or shopping voucher.

How come they didn't inform me bout the Maybankard Manchester United VISA debit card, they just give me the cherry card. The cherry card dun have the same benefit??

Having a new CIMB master debit card, linked to a yOUthsavers account.

I make a hotel booking a agoba, but it says cannot preauthorize my card. Went to CIMB bank and check, banker tell everything is ok, but remind me spending limit for my account is RM200. So I go CIMB clicks>other>mydata>change transaction limit>e-remittance to change the e-remittance limit to RM1000. Go back and try the booking again but still failed.

Before this, I managed to do an online transaction with groupon.
How weird is this
*
If not mistaken CIMB debit card is not available for online transaction. Last time u do with groupon is thru CIMB clicks is it?

Notice that the new debit card will be longer expiry. Some bank already offer up to 8 years.

Need some Debit Card sifus to shed some light here:

Please refer to http://www.alliancebank.com.my/DebitCards - I came across this page recently and I'm pretty surprised by the three cards Alliance Bank offers: Alliance Hybrid Standard Debit Card (Standard), Alliance Hybrid Platinum Debit Card (Platinum) and Alliance Hybrid Premium Debit Card (Premium). Not only that it has a cashback percentage MUCH higher than what is offered by other banks (1.0%, 1.5% and 2.0% respectively), all three cards seem to be exactly identical except in terms of cashback percentage / limit.

(Refer to http://www.alliancebank.com.my/ABMB/media/...reement_ENG.pdf Section 15 for more info about the Cashback programme.

1. Why would Alliance Bank offer such high cashback for their debit card usage, such that it almost rivals the cashback for credit cards in other banks? The cashback offered by these three cards is two to four times higher than what is offered by other banks. Does it come with a catch? (I'm worried if there's any, I haven't spotted any yet)

2. With the existence of the Premium card, doesn't it make the Standard and Platinum cards obsolete? I mean, if all other aspects are identical, why would anyone want to use cards with lower cashback?
*
If not mistaken for the cashback for there is max limit which is RM30 for standard card.

Where to answer your 2nd question, there is a difference in requirement for the card application where premium cards only applicable for AP (Alliance Personal) and PB (Privilege Banking) customers.

haha no idea... I checked my CIMB click and confirmed did not charged a single sen.
I have not activated my debit mastercard yet coz it has a reputation like a kwik card where I need to put money in first before I can use it, and it cannot use as atm card.

Hence, asking the question at here.
*
Using the another word, i think they 'pushing' all account to use debit card since their DC annual fees is high.

8 Debit card annual fee RM15

I want to ask about the expiry date of debit card.

My debit card given to me when I created my PB saving account just expire this month. Though all this while, I only use it to withdraw money from ATM.  I was wondering, can I still withdraw money from ATM even after the card expires? (only cannot make transaction/purchase)

The reason I'm confused is that my CIMB normal ATM card (not debit card) does not have an expiry date listed on the card, leading me to assume that the process of withdrawing money from ATM does not care about expiry date.  wacko.gif

It depend on bank actually, I know one of the bank deactivate all services included ATM after the debit card expired, you have clarify with PB.
For ATM, it definitely don't have any expiry date.

I went to Maybank to enable debit for online purpose but I still couldn't use it. The guy just use a teller machine to activate it
I mean this is what showed up on Grab app. The card was already registered in Grab app but removed it just to try whether it's usable or not.

My Maybank cherry card also the same, active through sms but still rejected when use in PayPal.
