May I know the atm card that I register at cimb is debit card or credit card ? because I register paypal and I dont know whether it is debit card or credit card.
*
If you are talking about the card that was given to your when you opened your savings or current account at CIMB, then that's a debit card.

QUOTE(nanan75 @ May 14 2014, 08:26 PM)
Which branch u got this from?  I went to KLCC branch this morning and they gave a lame excuse that the system not yet updated to issue this card.
*
Very lame indeed! I got mine changed to this new Maybank VISA PayWave Platinum debit card last week and at that time, they had not issue a single card out yet. The reason was the same as your, which is system has not been updated yet. But they can update their system in just about 5 minutes. They took a stack of the new Maybank VISA PayWave Platinum debit cards from the back office and gave me one right away.

Im screwed... I never try my atm in overseas but anyone tried their MBB debit card in Hong Kong or China ?? As things get messy and I be staying at Hong Kong for a long time and no cash to turnaround.
*
Have you activated your debit card for overseas ATM cash withdrawal ? Well, don't worry if you haven't. You can activate it through your Maybank2U. But if you haven't set up your online banking, then you probably should call Maybank hotline and see what they can do for you.

By the way, you'll be charged RM12 for each successful withdrawal at an overseas ATM + 1% admin fee (charged by Maybank). You can go ahead and try to withdraw some cash from the ATM with your debit card tomorrow. It should work at any ATM displaying the Plus (if you are using a VISA debit card) or Cirrus (if it is a debit MasterCard) logo.

Ask them to show you the circular or notice that states there is a monthly fee of RM59 for this card from the 4th month onward.

Hello guys,I'm at student and not working currently. I went to HSBC branch to apply new saving account but get rejected due to I doesn't have any proof that where is my money come from. Is it true that opening a HSBC saving account must be supported by the following documents?

1. Residental proof - Water/Electric bill that is under my name
2. Salary slip / Trading License
I'm opening a personal individual account by the way..
*
Because it is HSBC and HSBC is not so keen on opening very low return savings account. They have always preferred big fish (as in people having lots of money) as well as those who can potentially earn a lot of money such as doctor, lawyer etc. That is one of the reasons they want to see your salary slip. Besides, they have been hit by money laundering scandals hard in the past few years. So they are very cautious these days with the opening of new account.

Citibank is also very picky even when it comes to just opening a very normal savings account. Among the Big 5 foreign bank operating in Malaysia (HSBC, OCBC Bank, Standard Chartered, UOB Bank and Citibank), OCBC Bank and Standard Chartered are the easiest to open a savings account.

Hey guys, I just made an account to ask about CIMB Debit Mastercard that i have. I am desperate for answers. I just made this card a couple of months ago, being very happy because I can finally buy stuff online.. yes? no. I opened a Youth Savings Account as well as a CIMB Debit Mastercard. My question is why can't I purchase stuff online? I tried using on the app store, it works so I thought can use online also for Paypal etc. but cannot, when I try to make online payment, it always fail, giving errors like "There is an issue with your card please contact your bank". What do i do now? I've heard about the CIMB Debit e-mastercard, how do I get that? Should I just apply for a different bank's debit card? Sorry I'm very new to this, I still live with my parents and under 18 so things are very limited but please tell me what to do to overcome this. All I want is to be able to make purchases online and transfer funds. Any help will do, thank you very much smile.gif
*
May be you should consider Public Bank VISA debit card. The annual fee is lowe than CIMB debit MasterCard too (RM8.48 for Public Bank vs RM15.90 for CIMB Bank).

The redesigned Public Bank Day2Day VISA debit card doesn't just sport a new design but it is now equipped with VISA payWave feature as well.

Anyone else having trouble with Ambank debit cards doing online shopping? Payment keeps getting declined even though I have more than enough funds and I did manage to pay for a member fee on MyUSA. But that was one time and in February. The same week, I tried to buy something from book depository worth about 15 USD and that got declined. I went to the local branch the next day to get the bank to explain. The bank rep sat at her desk and dialled their own credit card hotline to answer my questions. Which seems a bit silly.

I told them my issue. And my limits were set to maximum already. So why on earth would they decline my payment? The lady on the hotline told me she would call me back. So I left and as I walked home, I received a call. She told me she doesn't know what's wrong and that the fault lay with BookDepository and Amazon. Fair enough, that might've been the case. I was getting really frustrated but what really pissed me off was when I insisted there was something that could be done, she had the gall to say "It's like that one. Even my card also the same thing." I was so pissed off I ended the call before I could blow up in public.

What kind of customer service is this? Beyond that, can anyone recommend a debit card that doesn't have this particular issue with international purchases like Amazon?
*
So far there are far less complaints with Public Bank Day2Day VISA debit card. PBB D2D VISA debit card also earns you at least 0.3% cash back (0.8% for grocery and petrol).

Thanks for the response. Are there any particular processes I have to go through to enable online shopping? Can I link this card with Paypal?
*
Not that i am aware of. FYI, the retail purchase limit can be set to a maximum of RM10,000. I think the default daily retail purchase limit is only RM2,000. And yes, this Public Bank Day2Day VISA debit card is a Paypal friendly card. You can definitely link it to your Paypal account.

QUOTE(OneMoreDay @ Jun 11 2015, 11:29 PM)
Does anyone else think that my difficulties buying from Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk and BookDepository and other US sites with my Ambank Debit Mastercard has to do with these sites not using 3-D e commerce protection?

I tested a theory with Luxola.com and placed an item worth RM80 in my basket. I entered my card details, etc and I received a request for TAC code on my phone. I have never experienced this on the sites I mentioned. Could this be the reason my payment keeps getting declined?
*
By right it shouldn't be a problem unless AmBank explicitly state that their card can only be used at online stores that are using 3D Secure authentication system. Anyway, my advise is to get yourself a second debit card smile.gif

I want to ask about the expiry date of debit card.

My debit card given to me when I created my PB saving account just expire this month. Though all this while, I only use it to withdraw money from ATM.  I was wondering, can I still withdraw money from ATM even after the card expires? (only cannot make transaction/purchase)

The reason I'm confused is that my CIMB normal ATM card (not debit card) does not have an expiry date listed on the card, leading me to assume that the process of withdrawing money from ATM does not care about expiry date.  wacko.gif
*
You'll need to get a new debit card once it is expired. Normal ATM card (without MasterCard or VISA logo) doesn't have an expiry date.

Yes. You do. Normally they will open a PLUS Savings Account for you and the annual fee is RM8 (RM8.48 after GST). And yes. They can issue the card to you on the spot.

Some new ATM/debit card now comes with mydebit logo too (such as the redesigned Public Bank Day2Day VISA debit card). I suppose it is something similar to MEPS payment system (passcode instead of signature based).

Is it true that there is no more 0.8% cashback for grocery and petrol and 0.3% for others for Day2Day card? Is it replaced by the 1% cashback for overseas spending? Does this apply to the new design cardholders only or existing cardholders of the old card is affected as well? I think probably both, right?  sad.gif
*
Yes. It is true. It applies to both cards.

Hello guys, just want to know what is the annual fee of debit card nowadays coz i opened an a/c with CIMB yesterday and was told that they would charge me RM15/year for the debit card.

but my hong leong bank debit card is only RM8 per year.
*
It is anything from RM0 to RM20. As mentioned by cklimm, RHB Group offers 4 types of debit card (branded as Cash Connect) and the annual fee is RM20.

As for CIMB Bank debit MasterCard. You can request to open a Basic Savings Account (non-fee) and it comes with an annual fee free CIMB debit MasterCard.

If you are not using CIMB Bank as your primary bank and is ok with limited use of the ATM to withdraw cash, then you should consider to open a CIMB Islamic Bank Basic Savings Account-i 1. It comes with a free CIMB Islamic debit MasterCard but you are only entitled to use CIMB Bank ATM to withdraw cash FOC for 8 times in a month. You will have to pay RM0.53/withdrawal from the 9th and subsequent withdrawals in the same month. The profit rate for this CIMB Islamic Bank Basic Savings Account-i 1 is 0.90% per annum.

QUOTE(karcity @ Aug 9 2015, 12:21 AM)
Guys, could I confirm again, is it possible to just hold a ATM card without debit card functions?
*
There are still a few banks that offer a pure ATM card without debit function such as Alliance Bank.

QUOTE(karcity @ Aug 9 2015, 12:21 AM)
Hence we don't need to pay AF and no expiry date.
*
Many pure ATM cards do come with annual fee... It all depends on your account type...

QUOTE(karcity @ Aug 9 2015, 12:21 AM)
And most importantly, no fraud case.. I m using Cimb and RHB. I remembered I asked the same questions few years ago to the Cimb bank, they say no more ATM card. Is that true?
*

If you are worried about misuse of your card in the event of theft or the loss of your debit card, you can either deactivate the VISA debit/debit MasterCard function... or for some banks, you can set the card's purchase limit to RM0. That effectively deactivates the retail purchase function of your debit card.
