look at the process.... RM100 consider Cheap liao~
*
yea... i jailbreak ipoo before, did custom ROM on WM5,6.* Droid before. nothing come this complicated as WP7. and that's only downgrade or unbrick the device. u still need to chevron unlock it later or install HSPL/DSPL it later.

very time consuming. can keep u very busy in 3-5 hrs.

i dont think they will... there's certain features on Nokia wp7 does not appear on other OEM. guess thats specially for Nokia on the 8billion deal with microsoft.

but with chevron unlock at least we can rip it off from marketplace and sideload to others device.

once the device can boot up and checked the bootloader verion is 7004 and SPL1.* my job is done. the rest... up to u wanna do what with it....

that's good enough.
what is the tendency of bricking the phone ?
and by any chance it could recover ?

easier to say, what's the worst case scenario that could happen ?

yup, WP7 JB flashing rom are more complicated than others, you need alot of patient to get things done.

there's always a risk for both party while doing such unlock and flashing services, user will have to bear for the consequence of bricking.

as long as the device able to go into USB recover mode. the device have a chance to be recover. even half brick device can be recover.

worst case... in the middle of forcing ROM in to the device... TNB cut ya electric without notice or u/friend come kacau and disconnect some cable.

than get really some $$ for new device.. tongue.gif

Chevron Labs 'jailbreak' should be much easier if you're willing to part with RM30.

releasing what device to which country is not decided by microsoft. its the OEM manufacturer decision. there is no need to have marketplace to be station in each country. u can always use others country marketplace for purchase apps/games.
*
No M'sia Marketplace means WP7 will be useless for a big majority of consumers. I can't always go to another country to buy a decent WP7.

No need to believe, Nokia has unofficially announced that they would (through Twitter)

yeap.. microsoft already slowly converting more secure signed app. some Xbox games are no longer running on custom ROM. and only custom ROM which can run MicroSoft signed app now is DFT V2.

I thought part of the MS/Nokia deal was to give MS access to the maps...? Why are we supposed to pay for it then? And... why should we? There is already Bing Maps, also an inofficial Google Maps app, ... all for free. Am I missing something?

yes. thats the deal.

Nokia will provide mapping, navigation, and location-based services. Presumably, these will use technology from Navteq, which Nokia bought in 2007 for more than $8 billion. which will save Bing from develope a new one to against gMap

mean time

Microsoft will provide Bing search services "across the Nokia portfolio" -- in other words, not just to Windows Phones.

but the deal also allow Nokia will launch its own Nokia-branded app marketplace built on the Windows Phone Marketplace platform. this indicate that it will be like other OEM manufacturer that only Nokia device can use those Nokia-branded apps in their own marketplace. its just like now, Samsung device will never appear HTC Hub in their device's marketplace.

Drive yes, but Maps? That's what they want to sell to non-Nokia owners, right? So I wonder what the advantage is... why I should pay. Drive I'll gladly pay for (given it's not too expensive, I also have a Garmin so I don't necessarily need it).

Google had to map all the roads in the world themselves in order to offer Google Maps Navigation (part of the job of the StreetView cars must have been to collect the necessary data), otherwise they would have to enter a licensing agreement Navteq or TeleAtlas which allows turn by turn navigation. Microsoft obviously couldn't be bothered/it makes more sense for them to enter an agreement with Navteq (Nokia) to get the data. I suppose. Or perhaps it's just an agreement to use the data as they currently use maps in Bing Maps, that would mean no turn by turn navigation.

I think Nokia could at least get a slightly basic version with lots of branding into WP7 itself (the full Nokia exclusive version could have 3D buildings etc.), and get paid for it by MS. I mean, you turn on your Samsung phone, and there is a huge NOKIA branding when you start the Drive app, also while you use it. Free ads basically, maybe the next phone then will be a Nokia? biggrin.gif Of course the manufacturers could chose not to include Drive then, but who wants a phone without a good free satnav?
