i heard not all foreign (medical) cert is recognized by our health ministry.

we only need 15 med schools.....so there is going to be some serious downsizing needed later.....with a lot of very unhappy parents making a lot of political noises....

Isn't it funny that any medical/MBBS thread that's started here will veer towards the oversupply of dodgy medical schools, ergo dodgy medical graduates.

You're right, my bad, it's not funny. I meant to say that it becomes ridiculous that the same issues are being raised over and over again, and a lot are still none the better. Arts students doing medicine is just preposterous, in my honest opinion. Our healthcare system is in doldrums, and when the relevant authority is mired by political persuasions, it will only get worse. Any action, instead of just moaning and groaning about how the system is just horrible.

Many years back, the gomen issued quite a lot of tax practitioners licence to one ethnic group to balance up the racial quota after only 6 months training. The end result was that after one year, less than 5% were still practicing and even then these were "loaned" out to other practitioners who were unable to get such licence.

Lets say for medical graduates, after housemanship, the gomen no longer provides auto employment for these graduates and they are "released" to fend for themselves in the business world. Surely, those who are no good will find difficulties surviving. Would such a scenario gives would-be medical students serious thoughts before signing up?
