i agree that most talk about marble is referring to cultured marble, meaning man-made marble.
it is easy to tell by the following ways

1. under side has cross hatched prints
2. top finishing is too glassy and does not feel porous
3. it is extremely difficult to get 1 piece of marble to form a whole table. at RM2000+, sounds like cultured marble. but i have been wrong before.

we chose a cultured marble table + tv cabinet + side tables due to budget concerns.
