Draytek is very configurable (for a home router), very easy to setup, has tons of features: 3G backup, VPN, SIP, IPv6, BT, DLNA, iTunes servers and more. One of the most feature rich routers I've seen. It's a bit expensive, RM480 I think for the 2130n. It used to be a crazy RM600 a few months ago. If you considering Asus or Draytek, I vote for Draytek.

Mikrotik is a different beast. It does things that no other router does for below RM300 mainly scripting and hotspot and high throughput PtP links but these are things a home user will probably never use. You have total control over it. But no BT downloading on this one.

It's hard to compare the two.

Anyone tried RB951G-2HnD or RB2011UAS-2HnD yet? Are they good? What's the LCD on the RB2011UAS for?

I'm currently using RB751G-2HnD and RB750GL.

Planning to get a RB2011UAS and a RB951G tomorrow. Anyone know where I can just walk-in and get one? Which shops in Low Yat sell them? It's been awhile since I've been there.

Do the 2 cloud shops here have premises I can visit?

True, true, Landasan always good price but really no time to go PJ tomorrow. Sold off my 750GL and my 751G is going tomorrow so really need to get something to replace them. If not, have to dig out the old DIR-615. :-(

Mine came with 12v PSU. I've read some units in other countries comes with 24v PSU. Also comes with a micro USB to USB adaptor. Other than that, same old RouterOS. Haven't really had time to play around with it yet. UniFi setup no probs. WLAN, VPN, Hotspot still disabled, maybe will setup and test this weekend.

I have the RB2011UAS-etc... Have not setup wifi yet. Will post results when I do. How are you testing the speed? Don't set your TX power too high if you're close to the router.

Is Unifi handing out ipv6 addresses already?

Hi all Mikrotik users, it's been awhile since I last posted here back in April/May 2013 when I got my RB2011UAS. If not for TNB and firmware upgrades, the uptime would ~365 days. :-) What an awesome router.

Used unit? Can sell cheap, cheap? Let me know the worst price please. (worst for you, best for me :-)

No probs here, I presume yours is working already? Since you have IPV6 tag.

Seems to be working on mine. RouterOS 6.13.

You can see the 2 dynamic ipv6 DNS servers from Telekom here plus Google and OpenDNS which I manually added.

On my mac. (OS X 10.8.4)

All DNS servers are picked up.

I only have DHCPv4 server running on the Mikrotik.


I'm sure you have it set already but just in case do you have "advertise-dns=yes" set in "/ipv6 nd" ?

What OS (of your PCs) are you running?

Don't have a Windows PC to try but I read that Win 7 doesn't support RA for DNS. Not entirely sure but I believe the same goes for Xp and Win 8. Perhaps newer service packs have added that capability.

It's working here in Sungai Long. Which area are you in? Maybe some areas still don't have it yet.

Is your router getting an ipv6 address?

If you turn on PPPOE logging on your Mikrotik, you can see ROS requesting for ipv6. From there you should be able to tell whether you are receiving a /64 from TM.

For me, I find that if I use my Unifi login at home, everything works fine but if I use my office's login at home, RouterOS req for /64 fails. Not sure why. Can't check at the office(office is apt in Desa UThant, KL) since the router there has no ipv6.

Before you do that, just enable ipv6 package on your router and look at your pppoe logs to confirm that Unifi in your area is giving out ipv6 addresses. If not then no point to set it all up.

Get us more info and I'm sure someone here can help.

Is your PPPOE connecting?

Can you ping the net from your PC? Can you ping the router from your PC?

Is your PC getting IP/DNS address from DHCP or manual?

Do a /export compact from your RB951 and post here.
