My kid dropped my ipad2 screen first...so everything is shattered. Anyone knows where i can find replacement lcd and digitizer (screen)?
understand there is a OEM version (which is less sensitive) and a better one (not sure if considered original). If anyone has done a replacement before appreciate if you could share where i can get mine repaired.
Thanks in advance.

Why don u try to send it to Apple Authorize Reseller shop for warranty claim(if available) or ask them for quotaion?

If not mistaken I read a thread in here regarding about the screen replacement from a local APS, the price is around RM800. My daughter drop my iPad2 yesterday from around 1.5 feet, luckily the Switcheasy Canvas save the day with no damage or dent.

I have asked Machines staffs regarding the cost of replacing the damage screen, they quoted me RM1k+ if get it repaired by authorized service center.. and they wont give new set (refurbished set) but they gonna just exchange the damage screen. If you get them to repair your iPad, the warranty will be continue. Other options is by getting it fixed by 3rd party but then the warranty gonna be void. Not sure about the LCD. But for sure it gonna cost a bomb.

if you are adventurous enough or the DIY type, save by getting the front panel from ebay and follow the instructions at www.ifixit.com -> http://www.ifixit.com/pdf/ifixit/guide_5374_en.pdf

thanks for all the replies. Both my screen and lcd busted!!!
Did go to machine shop and they indicated Rm1500 onwards (can buy a new one!!!). And confirmed warranty do not cover the damage....
Also checked out ifixit.com but heard the AP units from China is not as sensitive as the original. total parts cost about RM600 plus shipping. Keen to buy online but afraid the AP units are not reliable. I suppose my last resort is to buy online and try fixing myself.
But before i do that just wanted to know if anyone has fixed their screen and lcd in malaysia and does it work as well as before? If yes, appreciate if i can have the location (am based in PJ/KL) for me to check it out. Even if slightly more ex than buying online, i dont mind coz can see the quality of the screen. Anything less than RM900 is ok i guess.

Price should not that expensive , like RM1500. according to them , they will replace a new ipad2 at lower cost .

On ebay, LCD cost about USD60 (including shipping) and digitizer cost about another USD60 (including shipping and comes with tools) ... so total USD120 ... get some additional tools and DIY should not cost more than RM400 How is the outlook of other parts of the iPad (sides, corners, back)? Final option is selling it off and get a new one. I would buy and DIY-fix if its reasonably priced (after adding DIY-fix cost still significantly lower than new one) ... do the math: since you are willing to spend RM900 to fix it ... if you sell off at RM600. RM900+RM600 can get a new one already (rather than one that is broken and fixed, probably void of warranty too). Just my 2 cents. This post has been edited by joshting: Sep 26 2011, 03:54 PM

The body is not dented or scratch at all. You have a point. I did think of buying online but was just afraid of the quality of the part. I may just do that to perhaps buy the parts online and probably at most pay for some specialist to put back. I wont expect labour to be tat expensive. Anyone knows anyone who's good at fixing? Tks

I successfully replace my crack iphone4 screen by following the DIY guid on youtube.. not too expensive.. cost me RM 320, for entire white scree, white button + white back cover.. Performance vice the same with Ori in term of touch sensitivity as well as display.. I am taking good care of my ipad 2 since the i4 incident.. My friend got his iPad 2 screen replaced at the shop Mr. Battery for about RM500 and he has no complains. According to him, like the original.

Send for warranty. My father in-law's ipad 1 went into black screen mode so sent it in for warranty and within 1 week got new unit as a replacement (on 4.3.3 somemore).
