iPhone 3GS on 4.2.1 and I'm happy with it. No point updating to iOS 5 . I have everything here : )

What's Up With The Untethered iOS 5 Jailbreak?

Following the release of iOS 5 yesterday, many of you have emailed us about how you can jailbreak iOS 5, and take advantage of some of the great new things it allows you to do, especially with the Notification Center.

As we told you this morning, the only jailbreak currently available is a tethered jailbreak, which works with every device besides the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S (here is how to try it out). It will allow you to hack your device, and add tons of little apps and tweaks, through Cydia, that Apple would never have allowed. But you’ll need to plug it into your computer every time you reboot the device.

So, what about the untethered jailbreak? Well, from what we’re hearing iOS hackers and jailbreakers have already found a way to make an untethered iOS 5 jailbreak, they’ve also hinted at it a few times in the past. They have even found many exploits that have a good chance of allowing them to jailbreak the iPhone 4S.

So when will it be available? We weren’t able to get anyone to give us a solid date. The public version of iOS 5 was only released yesterday, so in any case, it will take a few days to test out the tools, even if they are ready. As far as the iPhone 4S goes, the last few iDevices Apple released were jailbroken in less than 24 hours, so we feel confident about this one as well.

Again, however, there will be a delay between the moment the device gets jailbroken on video, and when you’ll have a tool available on your computer that lets you do it yourself. In either case, we’ll be keeping you posted on any release or progress that we hear about.

if i didnt redsnow reboot it what will happen? that actually happen now.

your email, safari browser might not able to use and the cydia will be a white useless icon.

Im so mad now until today still cant sucess downgrade iphone ios.
Fix error 3914 then come error 20 fix error 20 then come error 2005.. Wth la seriously

hey guys , can any of you guys use the multitask gestures ? I have tried it by enable it using redsnow , but it does not seems to work

used reds ow to reboot than it will be fine.

To fix a Cydia white icon problem , first you turn off your iPhone. Connect your iPhone to your computer and run redsnow . Browse for your current firmware . After it extract all the information , it will ask you what you want . Untick install Cydia and tick only Just Boot Tethered right now .After that Cydia will reboot your iPhone. You should have a brown functioning Cydia now .

able to tackel these problem by rebooting the router. the wifi-sync are working now.

BUT! after used for 2 days. I found out even more bugs after jb.

when turning on 3G service at places where it is not available the whole cellular data signal will be lost, I couldn't see any IP address after that. I have to turn off 3G and turn on airplane mode than on-off the cellular data again to make it work.

I'm back to ori and wait and see the coming jb will be better.

If Apple is still signing the 4.3.5 then you should be able to downgrade by just downloading the IPSW for 4.3.5 and then just pressing Shift + restore. Make sure your host file is clean and the restore should be simple.

IF Apple has stop signing 4.3.5, the the only way to downgrade is to have your 4.3.5 SHSH saved somewhere. If you don't have it, then you won't be able to downgrade.

Just updated my phone to iOS 5, jailbroke it and restored whatever I had before updating it. Thanks guys, for all the discussion and links and information

No. Not yet. Don't have a timeline for when untether will be available.

I would like to ask a question..
for untethered jailbreak..we need to coonect to computer, to rboot again..
what happen if we not connect to computer nad juz charge the phone?
Phone will not on, and display apple logo only, or can on..but in normal unjailbreak condition?

For untethered, you do not need to have a computer once the phone reboots. For tethered, you need to be connected to a computer if your iphone reboots or ran out of battery.

If you are not connected, the phone will never boot properly. It will be stuck until your connect to the computer and run redsn0w again.
