Watched Johnny English Reborn yesterday night at KLCC; movie was not bad. Cant remember the last time i visited, but was actually shock that the tickets cost rm14 each. What actually contributes to the rising price? Remember back then, it was rm10 a ticket.

For that price, I get a very nice screen in China. RM15 is half price for students actually. So it's even more expensive in China. However, you get a really nice screen quality, they probably use new projectors or some digital stuff.

it depends on the place where u go to, latest movie will always have high price ticket + demands contributes to higher price factors. but yea RM14 is for normal cinema is high. i heard, tgv had major overhaul with their seatings and equipments thus, increases the ticket to cover up expenses. correct me if wrong. tongue.gif

RM14 each, for a family of 5 - that is rm70, painful if you ask me. In a way, they are not encouraging people to come to the cinemas? And go for "alternative" means?

people want aircon and other comforts eg good seat but don't want to pay for it. Back in your parents days, they have to put up with no aircon but wall mounted fans, poor sound system , wooden seat(if unlucky got splinter) and poor air quality thanks to smokers

Yeah, I guess our Cinema ticket price is one of the world cheapest price..
In China, HK and Taiwan, the normal price should be around RM 30 - 40

Our price is half of this price or even lower..

TGV standard price in Klang Valley is RM14 on Weekend...|
Since that, I'm boycott TGV.. I'm prefer choose GSC coz still Rm10-11 per movie or MBO..
Nowdays MBO as good as GSC and better than TGV... You can go to MBO SUbang Parade or MBO Klang...

I don't mind the expensive price for cinema tickets. Its acceptable to my standards because I am able to understand the cost and the risk of the cinema industry in Malaysia. What I will complain is when cinemas are charging premium charges but providing mediocre service.

I love MBO Melaka when they started out back in 2009. But since then, they never really bother to service and do maintenance on their theatre halls. Broken railings and terrible speakers are really the worst. They have countless of technical problems during shows especially the midnight shows. These days, I'd rather travel 15km further to watch in GSC Jusco. So yea, MBO you sux!

One question.... why they have different price for different screening time?

E.g:
GSC
Johnny English - Saturday

10.30 = rm11
11am = RM12
12noon = Rm14
1pm = rm12
2pm = rm12
5pm = rm14

Does such pricing applied only at GSC or other Cinemas too?...okay that made two questions actually.

Because of movie theater killing with prices like this, piracy is ruling with downloads. Make the movie tickets price affordable for everyone to watch. Then nobody will download, everyone will watch in the movies instead of downloading. Doesnt matter its in 3d or 4d or 100d. Make the price affordable. Same goes to music industry, cd cost a bomb that half of the world prefers downloading illegally than buying it. Just cause these artist and industry wants to get rich, expect us to pay so high? In the end who gets poor when we download? Yeah.........

rowan atkitson asked a higher pay and they agreed ----> raw materials also increase for film making -----> film more expensive -----> everything else from production to distribution expensive -----> send to cinemas and countries oil more expensive -----> print ticket more expensive (paper)-----> need to maintain cinema need more $$$ -----> need more money to clean cinema toilet ------> charge customer more $$$$ -----> maintain profit margin....

One question.... why they have different price for different screening time?

E.g:
GSC
Johnny English - Saturday

10.30 = rm11
11am = RM12
12noon = Rm14
1pm = rm12
2pm = rm12
5pm = rm14

Does such pricing applied only at GSC or other Cinemas too?...okay that made two questions actually.
*
only GSC i guess hmm.gif

sometimes i saw the ticket at GSC is cheaper like RM2 or RM3 after the movie started like 5 minutes

btw the ticket is taxed?

i always go to GSC suria and GSC 1Borneo and seems like the ticket doesnt taxed

and the price for ticket for weekday normal/2D movies before 12noon+ student/senior citizen before 6pm+ wednesday is RM6
weekday after 12noon is RM7 (for normal people, not students/senior citizen, except wednesday)

weekend/public holiday RM9 for all movies
3D movies need to pay ticket price with surcharge RM5

How is rm12-14 considered expensive? I bet if i sell 1 ticket at rm6, most malaysians will download torrent with the excuse of "can watch multiple times"

Watched Johnny English Reborn yesterday night at KLCC; movie was not bad. Cant remember the last time i visited, but was actually shock that the tickets cost rm14 each. What actually contributes to the rising price? Remember back then, it was rm10 a ticket.
*
KLCC and Pavilion area is a class area, cinema ticket is that high cost. why not you choose other like MBO cinema or leisure mall cinema cost only RM10, if you choose wednesday watch just RM6 only. smile.gif

Because China has lots of people, and lack of foreign movies shown in cinemas yearly. Got yearly quota.
