Urgently need price info here. I am relocating my DB Box on the same wall but on the other side. Meaning where all the wires come out now, need to make a hole and push all the wires back to come out on the other side.

Anyone has any contacts of qualified electrician for me to check price ? Very very urgent. TQ !

You will need to check if the existing wires are long enough to go onto the other side of the wall.

If move one feet or two maybe is possible by raising the DB box.

If move more you have to cut and join all the cables. Bad workmanship will result wire heat up end, which may risk catching fire.

to relocate DB box 1 feet-2feet from the original place, you need to pay the wireman around rm250-rm400

In fact, apart from the cost to do this, my biggest worry is what you have mentioned. I dunno who the electrician is as all are coordinated by my main con. Obviously, when i asked they said no problem. But from what i see, the job looks rather simple. Simple in the sense that where the wires come out to the box now, they just need to be pushed back to come out on the other side of the wall. I was told they need to drill a hole and this is the part I dont quite understand how coz all the wires are running there.

Simple as it seem but once touched there's always a risk. Anyone else here have experience relocating a DB box before ? Would like to hear more comments before making a decision.

Thanks.

Did that in my previous house reno. It involved the relocation of the meter together with the DB about 12 ft away from its original location. At that time, I had a cornice and it helped to hide all the wires. It is going to require some wire rerouting works. Just make sure you get a reliable electrician to carry out the work. All wire joints (if require) should be properly joined and insulated. You don't want to risk a short circuit and fire.

If you notice most electrician don't do solder join for new joints. And don't use heat shrink. Which i don't like.

how much did that cost you ?

i also dunno how to ensure the electrician is reliable when it's all arranged by the main con. ask too much that fella will not be happy with me. already happened once. so susah...i have to smile even though i'm unhappy with things... sweat.gif

correct jointing method, use cable links. then wrap with 2 layers of heat shrink, and wraped with electrical insulation tape, or better, wrap with HT insulation tape.

Best joining method is soldering, with high quality heat shrink.

Don't need hot blower, lighter will do. I do all this for all my wire solder joints.
